I lived in Calais for a year, and I was very unhappy! The apartments look nice and are in a great location, but the staff is terrible (unless you are a friend of theirs). The staff always seems nice, but nothing ever gets done. The maintenance staff is a joke... I lived below the maintenance guy, and he caught his apartment on fire. I was out that evening, and no one bothered to contact me or check to see if my dog, who I paid a hefty fee to keep there. My neighbor happened to be outside when I came home and told me what had happened. The building was evacuated due to smoke damage and flooding, but again, no one asked me about my apartment at all, so I stayed. Luckily, me and my dog were okay. That was just the biggest of my complaints. There are many more.
By the way... when you pay the "non-refundable pet fee", it doesn't count for anything. You will still have to pay them when you move out, if they have to clean the carpet (which they will no matter what)because it is not a "deposit." I still do not know what the purpose of the fee is.
