Horrible Place to live

My family and I lived at the Grove for about 9 months. During which time our apartment flooded 3 times. Maintenance was not able to fix the problem. The apartment smelled strongly of mold and mildew from the repeated flooding yet management refused to replace the carpet or move us to an apartment that wouldn't flood. Management was rude, unhelpful and dishonest about the severity of the problem. Their only solution was to open the windows and bring in industrial fans to dry the carpet. No water extraction or anything just huge fans and open windows in extremely hot weather. It was a horrible experience. We rented the apartment only because our home had burned down and we had to have a place to live while it was being rebuilt. The Grove looks and sounds like a nice place to rent but if you have any problems with your apartment- do not expect to be dealt with kindly or efficiently. Upon our leaving the Grove, they immediately rented the same apartment to another unsuspecting renter who no doubt has suffered numerous floodings as well. Sad.

Often people feel that when issues are not handled in the same way they would handle it then it is not being handled. Apartment Communities have to deal with issues such as flooding in the way in which their corporates managers see fit. I do know that carpets cannot be dried with fans unless the water is extracted first so the water had to be extracted in this situation unless the carpets had barely gotten wet at all. I also know that the fans are necessary despite the weather outside to make sure the carpets are fully dried. The same carpet cleaners that extract and dry the carpets also test for mold and mildew normally. Most people I know that live in apartments don't always reports smells like mold or mildew or minor issues (sometimes even major ones) to the office staff so that they may be dealt with properly. I know because I have done this before, if it's not important I won't report it or if it's minor I'll fix it myself. Unless this property has a certified plumber on staff then they most likely had to hire a third-party company to do the work on your apartment and were told each time that it was in fact fixed. I also treat my landlords politely expecting the same in return.
