No place to call home!

I was never allowed to see the apartment
I was getting until after I had signed my contract and after getting into the apartment I understood why. It was dirty, the carpets hadn't been cleaned, one of the blinds was broken and there was an animal living in the ceiling that scampered around at night along with a horrible ant infestation. When I contacted the office about the ants, they told me to store all my food in the refrigerator. Throughout my 6 months I had to write letters to both management and the owners of the property to get anything done. Had it not been for 8 yrs past experience in Apartment Management, I wouldn't have known what my rights were as a tenant. After I moved out, they did try and keep a large portion of my deposit despite the apartment being in better condition than when I moved in. I had to write a letter stating everything that had transpired throughout the nightmare stay in the apartment to the owners (out of state) and management. I told them it was funny how cleanliness wasn't a factor at move in but that they charged for it on move out. Luckily, I got my money back but I did have to fight for it. Stay away from Pleasant Woods Apartments-Far,Far,Away!
