Pleasant Woods has it's issues, but...

Years at this apartment: 1994 - 2006
I've read these reviews, and would like to set a few things straight.
My wife and I have lived here over 10 years. My neighbor, who has been part owner of this complex, has lived here since 1988.
Why would we live here that long'
Yes, we have had a bunch of our stuff vandalized and stolen (two of ours cars stolen from here).
Yes, the utility bills are comparatively quite high.
Yes, the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing is high maintenance.
Yes, it's very darkly lit at night time.
Yes, the tennis court is deteriorated, and the hot tub never works.
But that's just apartment life!
John Batty (the maintenance boss) is good people. He knows the trades and he knows what quality is. At any minute during the day you can walk outside and see him and his truck in route to a unit to fix something. He goes out of his way to fix MEP problems even after hours on a holiday! One of his crew even let me borrow his tools when mine got stolen.
Tiffany (a veteran lease agent) is good as gold, too. She always treats me like a valued customer, and she always does what she says. Kathy (another lease agent) always jokes she is just a pee-on, but she sure gets things done!
Donnie Reed (the manager) doesn't deserve the bad press. I've lived through 5 managers here, and every year their work load increases. It's apparent they do everything they can. Their work load is just ever increasing.
Look at the good features:
My neighbors are all fun to hang out with.
You get a 15 minute chair massage on Monday (by Sandy Lloyd, the best British Sports Therapist I've ever had!).
You get to workout at PowerHouse Gym a few days a week.
You get to hang out at the best pool in town (Drink lots of beer and play water v-ball tournaments all summer!)
You don't pay for water.
And you don't have to mow your yard!
This is an older apartment complex and it has issues, but the rent is reflective.
Come on people, this is a typical economy apartment complex... it is not the WALDORF TOWERS!
To honestly rate this place compared to other complexes alike, I would summarize it like this: If your looking for luxury apartment living, look elsewhere. If you are looking for city apartment life, I would recommend this place.
I'm a professional engineer, a real estate developer, and I've lived here longer than most any one else. I think it's my duty to give a fair assessment of the place. I hope it helps!
