I ve lived here for over a year and am a very satisfied resident! I would happily live at McCain Park (providing the rent doesn t jump drastically) until I buy a house for these reasons:

Approachable and friendly management -- they were very accommodating with our strange move-in situation.

Maintenance requests have usually been resolved within 24 hours.

Safe -- my neighbors leave stuff on their patios all the time and nothing has been stolen. The police station is within easy walking distance and the fire station about a mile. I do hear the fire truck sirens a few times a week, but I'd prefer to have them close by than to never hear them. :)

Convenient location: Right off highway 67, but the noise is blocked by numerous large trees -- which are also good for your electric bill! Almost every kind of business is within a mile or two: Walmart, Target, Kroger, bookstores, restaurants, clothing, McCain mall, hospitals, etc.

No complex is perfect, but when I hunted apartments in 2007, McCain Park seemed by far the best option for its price range.

Try going to the manager with a problem and see how approachable the management is then. If trees lowered your electric bill you are one of the few. NLR all ready has some of the highest utilities in the state but McCain Park is old and the utilities bills have been high and my neighbors also have very high bills. There has been vandalisim (stolen cars, spray painted car, doors kicked in, windows smashed, pool vandalized and more)on several occasions and a mugging on the property during the few years I was there. The courtesy officers are not available when you need them. Dog poop is everywhere! You could really have a much better place for the money.
