I give my notice to move on the 2nd of the month, call on the 15th to review that I will be moving on the 31st. Was told that the notice hasn't been received so I reprinted a 2nd letter for them. Once letter was received, there was a note on my door that says "we see your planning to vacate on the 31st and turn in your keys." Well, that's correct, no one will be in the apartment, like I said on the 2nd of the month. Well on the second paragraph there is a pro-rata for rent on the apartment for time that I won't even be there!!! Stait b.s.
One other note, construction is cheap and falls apart, carpet doesn't last, walls thin, ect...

State Law requires that you give 30 days written notice (and always give it directly to a staff member and have that staff member sign/date your copy so you'll have proof) and they usually require it to be on the 1st - most places will charge you another month if you don't. So... did you read your lease first?
