A year here and these negative reviews are quite inaccurate 2008

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008
I have lived here for a year and I have lived many places and I love it at Chandler Court. I am a Christian, from a middle-class home, 37 years old, attractive female. I even run alone at night and I have never had any fear or any problems. I live on the other side of where the pool that last person is talking about was located and I go to the pool quite often, even at nighttime to the jacuzzi, alone. This review is written in response to what I read about this place on this site.
ON THE BUGS REVIEW -
There are no bugs or roaches. Once I had a problem with flies and the complex had an exterminator come in the next day after I called them. My dog and I are in the grass all the time, and we have never had any bug problems like ticks or roaches!!! I have seen a few (pincher bugs, crickets, flies, and spiders) in my apartment, but since I have a doggie door, I don't get alarmed.
How on earth could there even be so many ticks in Arizona anyway'! Ticks are native of the northeast where there are trees. According to wikipedia, "Ticks are blood-feeding parasites that are often found in tall grass and shrubs where they will wait to attach to a passing host. Ticks can be found in most wooded or forested areas throughout the world. They are especially common in areas where there are deer trails or horse paths." Where is there forest, trees or tall grass in this area'! That infestation couldn't have been ticks, I am sorry to say. It must have been some kind of lice. I just did research for about 2 minutes on lice and what this person must have had is... "Bed bugs are small flat bugs that look similar to a tick. They feed on the blood of animals. Bed bugs have been around for thousands of years. Just because they are called "bed" bugs does not mean that they only are found in the mattress or box spring. They will inhabit any area that is near to a food source. Bed bugs are difficult to get rid of. They hide well, they feed sporadically (crawl onto the person and then suck blood very much like a mosquito does), they travel between apartments and they are becoming more and more resistant to standard pesticides. Everywhere - they can be found in and around the mattress, box spring, bed frame, dressers, clocks, anywhere they travel to, which means anywhere the person infected travels to, etc..". http://www.licescabiesandbedbugs.com/bed-bugs-information/bed-bugs.asp
ON THE REVIEW THAT SAID DRUG-DEALERS LIVE HERE! -
I saw the two young guys I suspect this review is talking about that I think seemed like they might sell drugs (and that was my assuming that because they had one visitor once all that day for just a couple minutes. I have never even seen them outside except that one time. I think they live in an apartment on the Los Feliz street side. One of the guys walked over to his guest on the sidewalk and they talked for a couple minutes. I thought, that seems strange, like maybe they were buying drugs but they were still hanging out at the pool, so I dismissed that idea. They are maybe 21 years old or younger and there were two of them, very tall and thin, not even remotely scary. They certainly weren't talking to anyone or trying to sell drugs to anyone or even talking to each other loud for that matter. There was a family of like 5 kids and a mom, some other single girl and me at the pool that day.
ON THE THIEVES/STEALING REVIEW -
My dog and I have lived here a year with her outside as often as she wants on the patio and there's never been a problem. In fact, the patio is why I moved in, so she can be comfortable going in and out as she pleases. She is so happy here and so am I. I have a bunch of stuff on my patio and nothing has ever been stolen. I have never been broken into or heard of anyone here having any problems like that.
ON THE OFFICE STAFF REVIEW -
I have been friendly with everyone that works in the office since the first day I came in to fill out my application back in January 2008. They've all worked here for many years, so I can't understand what this reviewer could be talking about with that. Every single time I have had any need, or even talked to anyone that works here, they are all very, very nice and helpful, and get back to me the same day, and handle my concerns immediately. My stove was even replaced when I first moved in even though it wasn't even broken, because I had a stove fire, which was probably a grease fire. The appliances are old as it is an old place, and the complex is so incredibly inexpensive that I never expected them to replace anything, but they volunteered and I had a new stove within less than 2 weeks. My A/C had a problem once, that was fixed the same day, and it was working fine, just running loud. I had a call in a coupe times for like the screen door, and little stuff like that since I have been here and it has always been handled the same day. I live next door to one of the maintenance people, and they are very nice every time I see them, which is almost daily. The office staff works with me, talks to me, even asks me about my personal life, so I cannot understand these negative comments! I think some people may have problems and fears that they manifest.
ON THE POOL, JACUZZI AND B-BALL COURT REVIEW -
The pool is perfectly normal and quiet, although too cold, in my opinion. The place has lights, but it is not daylight bright. There is no fence around any basketball court that I have ever seen, but that is probably true that the ball sometimes goes rolling toward an apartment, since people do sometimes miss shots. It seems to me though that anyone playing basketball would probably be good enough at it that the ball wouldn't be flying all over the place like the reviewer described.
MY ONLY COMPLAINT -
Honestly, my only complain is with the mail! The mailman is lazy as the day is long and doesn't get the mail done until about 4 pm and 2 separate times I received mail that was supposed to be delivered to my apartment, one was even a C.O.D. that legally requires being delivered to my door i exchange for cash, were put in my mailbox and I never knew it!!!!!!!!
NOISE LEVEL IS FINE-
There aren't parties or loud noise. The neighbors all talk to each other because we see each other all the time with the townhome courtyard style setup. The pool area is the only part of the complex that I wouldn't want to live in, just because it isn't as nice over there and I would expect that area to be louder. Each grassy courtyard has the shared yard, which is actually really nice to look at and creates that quaint neighborly home feel. The grills in the courtyards are charcoal, which I thought was ghetto when I moved in, but really, it is so much better that gas. Gas grills are a pain to light. I just buy a small lightable bag when I grill and the food actually tastes better with charcoal.
INSIDE OF APARTMENT IS GOOD -
The two-story townhome set-up is awesome too. The noise level is good because of that too. The patio is HUGE, big enough for two patio sets probably. I have grass in the front and backyard, which I love. There's a washer and dryer in the apartment, and what a blessing that is!!!! The closets are humungous! My second room has been my art studio and office and it has a big closet the length of one wall. The bedrooms are 12.42 ft (149") x 10.67 ft (128"), which means the rooms below are the same size, living room, dining room/kitchen. I agree that the living room is quite small though. Usually living rooms are the biggest room, but in this layout, all the rooms are the same size. There are 1-1/2 bathrooms. Beige carpeting in every room except the bathrooms and kitchen. The place is old and inexpensive, so it is not one of those luxury type places where you move in and everything is immaculate, but for this price for a two bedroom townhouse, I accept it and I really, honetly love living here.
MY NEIGHBORS ARE GREAT-
I have met people from 11 different apartments during my time here and I met them all different ways, just walking to my apartment! 2 I met at the pool, but the pool is usually pretty empty. The couple that used to live next door to me just moved into their own home. The new couple are the same age as the other tenants and they are a little louder, but nice. The ages of people living here is 20s to 40s. I've met nurses, factory workers, business people, artists, laborers, and professionals. I've seen 2 parties since I moved in February 2008. It is November 2008 right now.
LOCATION AND LENGTH OF STAY ALL GOOD-
This place is on Chandler Blvd and 101/McClintock, so it is near the 101 and the 1-10 and just a few miles from the 60 off the 101. The Chandler Mall is about half a mile away, so there are lots of stores, restaurants and movies within five minutes of leaving home. It is a very nice place to live and I plan to live here until I buy a house, in a year or two. All the people I have met have lived here for more than one lease term and plan to stay. I've met singles from 2 apartments that are older than me and they have both lived here for many years and they seem content too.
Best of luck in your apartment search and may God bless your new home :)
