Do NOT Rent Here

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2006
We've had so many problems at Chandler Pointe, it would be difficult to include them all. I've summarized the major problems below. I won't include problems with the (truly awful) management staff, because the company recently changed (for the fifth or sixth time).
Please read the following review with this in mind: They raised the rent on a 2 bedroom from $678 to $893. When I went in to ask them why they were raising rent by so much and if they were going to change or fix any thing, I was told: "We're not going to make any concessions or change anything."
We have lived in two units over 4 years. In the first unit, a 1 bedroom, we experienced the following (among other little problems):
- the office closed on my move-in day, so we had to beg a maintenance guy to let us in (in order to avoid keeping the rental truck an extra day)
- stung by a scorpion which was on the floor
- bug infestation
- air conditioner leaked and caused ceiling panel to collapse multiple times (this was never fixed)
- car was egged
- dumpster was lit on fire (on Christmas)
- flooding (from leak in apartment next door) that left us with ruined furniture and artwork.
- flood damage not addressed properly, so apartment filled with mold
Because of the mold, we moved into a 2 bedroom unit. We've had trouble there, too:
- there were large holes in the walls at the baseboards when we moved in. Though we reported this multiple times, it was never fixed.
- a lot of superficial damage to the apartment as well- gouged sinks, bad paint, dented walls, etc.
- air conditioning unit leaked and caused ceiling panel to fall in AGAIN!
- many leaks from the toilet and dishwasher
- I wrote a rent check and then had to open a new bank account, so I provided them with a replacement check. They refused to return the first check, cashed it (before I had the opportunity to cancel it, but after I had given the replacement), and caused me overdraft and check fees.
- downstairs neighbors scream at each other and fight constantly- I know that's not the fault of the complex, but it speaks to the quality of people who live there.
Basically, these apartments are trashy. Add to that the location (right next to a freeway), the size (only 840 square feet in my unit), lack of new/working appliances (is my dishwasher from 1989'), and lack of amenities (few working laundry rooms, disgusting pool, no usable spa or fitness room)... does this sound like a $900 apartment to you'
No, it doesn't. These apartments weren't really worth it at less than $700- I just loathe moving. Now it's as expensive as renting a house or luxury apartment, so it's time to go.
Don't bother with Chandler Pointe. It's not worth it.
