You can certainly find better for the price

I consider this to be a pretty unbiased review. I am married, with one baby. I am a responsible and financially stable adult. We chose this apartment complex because it is only one block away from the hospital where my husband works, but we will not be renewing our lease when it runs out. I wouldn't recommend the complex to my friends, and I won't recommend it to you either. It isn't at all terrible, but for the price, you can certainly do better. Here are the things that I love and hate:

Love:
*Maintenance- the maintenance guys are great. they are super friendly and really on top of things. most repairs are fixed very quickly and adequatley. they always say hello and smile. maintenace can be a real hassle at some places, but here it is absolutley wonderful.

*the office cookies- i know, not exactly a deciding factor, but the office has great cookies. most of the staff is very nice and friendly, although you need to read further to really hear about them.

*my floorplan- I am in a two bedroom with a pass-through kitchen and I love the floorplan. They recarpeted when I moved in and also replaced the cabinets, which is great. I really love th model that I am in.

*the pond with turtles and fish- very cute

Not a fan of:
*roaches- we keep a really clean house, but there have always been roaches. not a ton, but we have seen quite a few. in fact we keep the bath tubs plugged, until we use them because roaches seem to crawl up from the drains. They do offer an exterminating service on Fridays, but if you make an appointment they don't always come. The bugs in general haven't been a huge problem, but there has been a problem. You are going to get an occasional bug where ever you are, but this is a little bit more than normal.

*pools aren't always clean and jacuzzis don't work- I'd say about 70% of the time I have tried to swim in any of the pools, they have had lots of junk floating in them. Again not terribly dirty, but enough to bother.

*Paper thin walls- you will certainly get to know your neighbors even if you don't want to. If anyone's voices raise even slightly you can hear them, and if they have kids, or are young people, forget it! We can hear everone who walks by, along with cars driving by. the worst part is if any of the apartments around you take a shower or flush the toilet, it is SO loud. I mean, it sounds like you are in the room with them.

*Grounds being mowed/leaf blowers/upkept at 7am. Lots of noise ealy in the am, for an extended period of time, on a regular basis. Enough said.

*Not actually gated- It is supposed to be a gated community, most of the gates, don't work and are chained closed. The main gate and only access point (unless you buy a $45 remote, then there is one other) is supposed to close at 7pm every night, but is almost always open all night long.

********Here is my OFFICE STAFF EXPERIENCE*****************
I in general have really appreciated the office staff. They have always been very friendly and, we have never really complained about anything. To tell you the truth, I consider my little family to be the ideal, quiet, friendly and responible renter. When we first moved in we signed up for the automatic withdrawl rent pay. We knew that we would always have adequate funds in that particular account and it would be nice not to have to worry about it. It worked well for us for several months. Then, on the third of November we came home to an eviction notice on our door for failure to pay rent. I was absolutley blown away. I have never paid a late bill in my life. There was no other contact to let me know something was wrong, other than this eviction notice. I went straight to the office. There was no managers there and the regular staff couldn't do much for me, other than tell me that I had to pay a late fee/processing fee of $111 a day for the late rent and that it would be 2 days before I couldn't speak to a manager. She told me that the ACH withdrawl had been turned down probably because of insufficent funds. but I KNEW that there were sufficient funds. Anyway, long story short, it was no fault on my part, I had to go through a huge run-around trying to be able to speak to a manager, and even then they would only let me speak to the assistant manager, who was rude and judgmental. I had to go through a big deal, getting certified statements from my bank, etc. Eventually they told me that it must have been an error or their middle man company, who actually does the withdrawls. They said that they would refund my late fee money, but it has been almost two weeks and they still haven't. Through out this whole process I have had to be the one to contact them, to push them to find out what the problem was, to repeatedly call for answers, and to prove that i was at no fault. they have never apologized for their mistake and have made me feel as though I am a terrible inconvience. I have been extremely patient and kind in my dealings with them. I realize that most of the time, it is the late tennant'f fault, so they aren't very trusting. But even after they knew that they were in the wrong, they haven't been at all anxious to be helpful, kind, or apologetic. I get the feeling that they just keep hoping i'll go away and forget about the late charges they owe me. The whole experience has been a nightmare.

Overall, there are a few things that are really great about living here, but there are also things that aren't so good at all. Like I said, we will definetly not renew our lease, even if it means being farther from work.

This is a great review, you don't seem to be too judgemental or irrational. I really appreciate the time you took to write this because I am taking this into consideration about possibly moving to the complex. I hope everything worked out for you.
