Overpriced and overrated

This is a nice place to live, and we have never had any major problems. But our stay here has left us unsatisfied with the amount we pay each month. The staff is quick to respond to any problem we have ever encountered. The grounds are beautiful, and the apartment is spacious.

There have been some things that have bothered us though - some of them little things, some of them not so much. Our carpet was clean upon move in, but rather worn and seemingly cheap. The walls seem thin. If there are people outside - nearby but not super close - I can hear them as if they were inside my apartment. All of that pretty landscaping comes at a cost - the landscapers come at erratic times, sometimes early in the morning, and there is nowhere I can go in the apartment where the sound of their equipment isn't loud and distracting.

The hot tub has been not quite right ever since I moved here. It gets a lot of this weird foam with the jets on, like taking a bubble bath but with visible dirt particles floating around. The pool was too cold to swim in at night for nearly half of the time I have been here. I have seen a roach twice while in the pool area at night, and one of the lights has been out for a couple of months. The security cameras may make you feel safe upon move in, but they are only at the front of the property. A friend had his motorcycle stolen out of his parking spot several months ago, though we have never experienced a problem with our own vehicle. The gates are ineffective, as nearly every night when I pull up there is a vehicle just waiting for a resident to come by and open the gates. We also frequently get solicitors knocking at our door or fliers left on our doorstep.

And dog free community' Not on your life. Supposedly, only people with notes from their doctor can have dogs, or people with guide dogs of course. But it is hard to believe all of the people with dogs that we have seen have a valid reason for having them here. There are more dogs here than at my last apartment that accepted dogs! Chihuahuas, Labradors, pugs, cocker spaniels, bull dogs...it's a little ridiculous.

In my experience, living in a Mark-Taylor community is almost like living in a luxury hotel. As it should be, considering that you could get a mortgage for less than what you will pay here each month. While San Hacienda would be perfectly acceptable as an apartment, as a luxury apartment and as a Mark-Taylor it falls short.
