I moved to Chandler in June, 2007 and this was right before Lincoln Property took over. Poor Steve, the awesome maintenance guy we had, was fired. Just because the new manager wanted to bring her low-level class team with her. Since Gracie took over, she hired very sketchy and shady employees. She's already been through two maintenance guys, and I always got an uneasy feeling everytime I saw one of them. They stare at you as if they have hidden cameras in your apartment. One time, when I was in the office putting in a work order, Gracie pulled one of the maintenance men in her office and said loudly "Shut the door." It was obvious she was talking about my roommate and I. We had previously lived in a 3 bedroom and moved into a 2 bedroom which the carpet was filthy and disgusting. They claimed they shampooed it and when we asked if they could do it again, they acted like it was a big hassle. Then, she told us that maintenance came and shampooed the carpet (funny how they could do that when all of our furniture was moved in already) and the carpet was completely DRY. When I complained yet again, Gracie said it was cleaned and there wasn't anything else they could do. I reminded her that it is against health code to have tenants living in someone else's dirt, that seemed to get her attention. Sure enough, 2 days later she tells us that they are going to replace the carpet. But that would require us moving all the furniture off the carpet and into the bathroom and kitchen. What a hassle this was. And the carpet company they hired was very shady. I came home on my lunch break from work to find them hanging out in my apartment listening to the radio and not working.
Work orders often take 2-3 reminders because things don't get fixed. With the age of the apartments, more things are breaking easily. Drains are so slow and they never fix them when you put in a work order. We also had a lot of problems with ciruit shortages in our apartment. After they supposedly come and looked at it, they said nothing was wrong. If nothing was wrong, how come my roommate couldn't plug anything in her bathroom and went without power for the first 2 months'
Another annoying thing is that the AC condensor unit is in the shower, so when the AC is running for 8 months out of the year, you hear the constant drip of it. Even when you are taking a shower. That also cannot be fixed according to maintenance.
Obviously they have lowered the standards for living in the complex. I think my neighbors had 8 people living in a 2 bedroom apartment. How unfair it is that prices were raised for current tenants and lowered for new ones. People are more noisy and there seems to be more teenagers living on their own in apartments.
And the gate, all the complaints are true. Why are we paying money to live in a gated community when it was broken for over a month' I never used to feel uneasy walking the 10 feet from my car to my apartment, but the last year I have felt that way everyday and spend more time away from the apartment than in it.
I don't regret not renewing my lease. I joined the droves of people moving out of this dump. Don't be fooled by this place!
