MOved into a lower unit in the back of the complex, from out of state. Office staff refused to allow us access to even see the inside of the unit until the night before we took occupancy, and then we only got a five minute parusal. Once we were moved in, the leasing agent called us and demanded $120 for damaging a carport roof. Never mind the roof was on the other side of the parking lot, from where we moved in. When we protested, we were told that "another tenant" had turned us in to the maintenance staff for denting this roof with our moving truck. We are still in the process of protest. We noted that many parking roof tops were dented throughout the complex, which indicates to us that they collect money to fix the problem from the tenant,
and then pocket it rather than acomplish the charged repair.
The unit is not quiet. This is due to poor contruction. While the outside of the building appears well built, the fixtures, closet doors, water heater, and appliances are very cheap. We can hear the tenant upstairs whenver he moves around, or decides to vacuum his floors at 11:00 PM.
We have found the staff polite, but rather tentative in dealing with us. They seem uncomfortable in their role, untrusting, and seem more interested in renting new units than making present tenants happy, or dealing with their problems.
Maintenance is a concern. There are several large holes in the stucco in the outside patio enclosure, where something has fallen down and cracked, or destroyed the stucco. This problem has not been addressed.
The jury is still out. We have protested this to the home office of Mark-Taylor properties, and will report back when it develops further.
MY REPORT BACK: We followed up with the office on the roof damage, and they relented and declined to attempt to charge us for the problem. We found them far more courteous and kind the second go round. While they have not fixed the outside stucco mentioned above, they seem to try to be on top of all maintenence issues in the complex. I have seen them replacing cement garden borders, and repainting curbs throughout the complex.

You are right on when you say th staff is more concerned with attending to new tenants vs dealing with he problems of an obvious old & falling apart complex.
I can not wait for my lease to end. This place is a dump. I hope your appeal to Mark Taylor brings you some results. But I see that community ----- as a company that is hung up with getting people to sign lease's.
I pray others read these reviews before signing on to this over priced rat hole

Why would u sign a lease if you didn't even check out the apartment before hand? I know that at times they just can't let u view it because it could still be cleaned or repairs and they don't want people coming in and injure themselves...but, before you sign anything that involves a contract you view the apartment first! So, reading ur review I would say that was you fault and not theirs. But, I agree the units are older and u can hear everything...regarding collecting money to fix the problem of the parking roofs...we never had that issue but, if it was a big issue there would be a lot of complaints from people to Mark-Taylor, so I don't see how u came up with the conclusion that since there are a lot of dents on the roof then they collect money...if so wouldn't they already been fixed?

I can appreciate your repsponse. To answer your question as to why we rented without seeing the actual apartment, we were shown an exact duplicate of it elsewhere in the complex. We also walked the outside of the unit, and submitted a detailed (with pictures) list of exactly what was wrong with the unit. Our first impression was wrong, and we see that they really do want to maintain the complex. What convinced us of this is all the optional preventative maintenence we have seen in the past three weeks.
