Office staff is uncaring and incompetent. After being assured that my January rent check would not be cashed until I requested (January 2), it was cashed December 22, leaving me without money for the holidays and with $175 of fees from my bank for insufficient funds. When I called the staff to ask about it, I got no help and no understanding. I don't have many complaints about my average apartment home, but the staff does not seem to care about its residents' needs or requests.

Just a recommendation - never write a check unless you have the funds. How can management be responsible for this? To say this means they don't care is so unfair. I have had personal experiences with management and have nothing but excellent service.

Here's a thought; if you want the check to not be cashed until the 2nd, date it for the 2nd! You can't cash a check until the date given on the check!!

And to follow up, I never had a problem with the staff in the past, and found them usually friendly and welcoming; I've renewed my lease several times because I like the location, etc. However, it was just heartbreaking to me to be out $1100 unexpectedly during the holidays, especially when the staff verbally assured me that they would cash my check on January 2, and instead it was cashed December 22. It's hard to feel the same trust for the staff that I had before. And, the date on a check doesn't matter. As long as it's not a year old, the bank will cash a check no matter the date. Call your bank and they'll say the same thing. Towne Square staff told me the same thing; they'll cash a check no matter what the date is.
