Overall experience was good

I have lived in Highland Village for two years, and I'm writing to say that overall the experience was a good one. The apartments are affordable, which was the main reason that my roommate and I chose them. We had a furnished two bed, two bath unit. The furniture was not fancy by any means, but it came with no extra charge, so we kept that in mind. If you're going to pay to a cheaper rent, you can't expect fancy surroundings. The staff was helpful and answered our questions when we had them. Maintenance responded to our calls within 24 hours and left a work order so that we knew that they had been in. One problem that I did have was with winter parking. I came home from work several nights to discover that the lots had not been plowed throughout the day, making it impossible for me to drive up the hill. With the hill too icy to drive up, and all the lower parking spots taken by other residents, I was often forced to park in the street. I received three parking tickets one winter because I had to park in the street due to the inaccessibility of the parking lots. I felt that more could have been done to keep the lots cleared of snow during the winter, and clean of cinders during the summer. Like I said though, if you signed a lease because of the low rent, you shouldn't expect first class accommodations. One other problem I had was with the laundry facilities. The machines were expensive ($1.25 to wash a load, and $1.25 to dry). Often I had to rerun loads because either the washer hadn't washed all my clothes, or rinsed them thoroughly. The dryers should probably be replaced because they didn't dry medium sized loads very well and would often take another $1.25 to finish the job. Overall, though, the experience was okay. I wanted a cheap place to live, and I got one that was nice enough.
