Decent Place to Live with a Few Exceptions

Overall living at University West is a decent living experience. The move-in process was clear-cut and easy, but if you're hoping to get into the 2 bedrooms, good luck! They fill up fast and there's a very long wait list to get in.

The only run-in's we've had with the Office Staff is concerning maintenance requests. They are very slow to respond to requests made by the tenants. I've made several requests for things to be replaced and/or fixed and it's taken them on average, a minimum of a week to get around to doing it (that's if they even remember that the request was made).

As a warning to people looking into these places, beware of spiders! We had a pretty bad spider problem when we first moved in (since we live on the first floor), but just buy some of the bug spray that lasts for several months and spray along your doors & windows. It doesn't stop the problem completely (we still kill at least 2-3 spiders in our place every week), but it will cut down on it.

Parking usually isn't too big of a problem. You get 1 guest pass and then there's also a few guest parking spaces along a back wall. Be sure you give your friends a pass because they tow several cars a night! (Which I'm ok with since I don't want to have to fight for parking with people who don't live here).

Another downside is that no pets are allowed, cats or dogs. From what I've heard a few bad apple tenants ruined it for everyone else unfortunately.

So basically, the pros of this place are:
-Washer/dryer in the unit
-Parking isn't usually a problem
-Property is well maintained and always looks nice
-Super close to NAU campus; cross the street & you're there!

Cons include:
-No pets
-Slow maintenance response
-Noise can sometimes be an issue
-No real patio for 1st floor apartments (it's not enclosed, just a slab of concrete).
-Spiders can sometimes be a problem.

Hi! This is Jessica from the office. I just wanted to say thank you for the very honest review and your patience with maintenance as we switched from summer staff to winter staff. I want to make sure that your work orders are addressed immediately so please feel free to contact the office if they have not been complete so far. As for the spiders, I know it's a little rough this time of year (living in a forest) and all of the little creatures are looking for shelter to avoid the cool weather. We do offer free pest control so please call or stop by the office and we will have a professional exterminating company come to your apartment and take care of any issues you have. Also, I want to thank you for understanding the reasons behind our strict parking policies. We simply want to assure that there is always a parking space available for our residents and their guests. Don't forget you can check out unlimited amounts of guest parking passes for up to 7 days at a time in case you are planning for more than 1 friend or family member to visit. Again, thank you for your honest review and we hope that you made it to our resident BBQ today.
