Worst Experience Of My Life!!!

First of all, as far as apartments go the interior of this one is awesome. The kitchen is great, the tile in the kitchen and by the front door is real instead of linoleum (the same can't be said about the bathrooms), and our floorplan (the 3 bedroom) was spacious and easy to arrange furniture in. We loved the patio, since it was really large and because we were on the third floor there were nice views of the surrounding mountains. Parking was OK, our covered spot was right in front of the stairs to our apartments and uncovered parking was almost always available for our guests.

Now for the negatives. The stairs are really tight to get furniture through, since they change directions a lot. We had movers move our stuff in, but when we moved out a lot of our furniture got scraped going around corners. Obviously, climbing three flights of stairs is a pain when you go grocery shopping, but moving onto that floor is something you can avoid if you would like. The only other issues we had with the stairs was that there are HUGE open areas under the first flight that someone could easily hide behind. Coming home at night was pretty scary even though the complex is in a nice part of town. At one point, the lights on our staircase went out and stayed out for A WEEK. It was so dark that one we were half way down we couldn't see our hands in front of our faces. We called twice to complain, and it still took them a week to get around to it. Not only was it unsafe because of the open area underneath, but when the lights were out there were a few times that we nearly tripped and tell down three flights!

The management here is terrible. When we were signing our lease and getting ready to move in, they couldn't have been nicer. The issue is that once we were bound by the lease, they stopped caring. EVERY time I went into that office I felt patronized and talked down to. The two managers, April and Sharri are very rude. April is the worst. Dealing with her was something that I really dreaded. She could not have been meaner to my girlfriend and I. There are a couple of others who work there as permanent employees, but the main people you will deal with are temps. They constantly have temps coming in and out so the office staff is never consistent. Worst of all, since the temps are only there for a month at most, they can never give you any decent information. They will "take a message" for the managers to call back, and you will wait for days without a reply. They lied OVER AND OVER about things like GOING INTO OUR APARTMENT WITHOUT ASKING (we had proof, and they still denied it). They have no respect for their tenants. I could not have imagined a worse situation.

They have a "no visiting pets" rule, which won't affect most people but definitely affected us since we have a friend who carries a poodle everywhere with her. Might be something to consider if you have friends with pets.

Maintenance is almost worse than the office staff. The head guy refused to fix things in our apartment, and there was a time when he cut my girlfriend off mid-sentence and refused to let her talk. He was so rude that her reduced her to tears. When our back patio door wouldn't lock, he told us that it didn't matter because we were on the third floor, and refused to fix it until we complained.

The outdoor hallway areas between apartments are FULL of moths and other flying bugs, but we never had any inside of our apartment. There was a gap between our door and the door frame which led to a beetle problem, but other than that no bug issues.

As far as noise goes, this place was great. It seemed like the walls and floors were pretty thick, and our downstairs neighbors let us know that they hardly ever heard us above them at all. No loud music or anything like that.

When we moved out because one of us was laid off and we couldn't afford rent, they gave us information about breaking our lease which they later took back and ended up charging us almost $8000 in lease breaking fees! It was completely ridiculous and the management staff refused to speak with us about it. We had our phone history checked, and we called them almost 70 times and only got through FIVE! They also denied receiving messages. A man in the office named Scott or Steve (something like that) would claim that we never called even after we had talked to him and left a message for the managers personally.

Unless you like being treated like a complete incompetent child for no good reason by a staff that has a holier than thou attitude, steer clear of this place! The newness and prettiness of this community aren't nearly enough to make up for the way we were treated. They will lure you in with a seemingly friendly staff and a great looking community, but once you're in they will make you hate your life! Stay away if you know what's good for you!
