Worst Experience Ever!

Worst experience ever!
We lived at Bayside at the Islands for a year. When we got there, I had to clean every thing before I could unpack. The dryer would either burn my clothes or wouldn t dry them at all. It took them more than 3 months for them to finally replace it. I also had to do my dishes before putting them in the dishwasher: otherwise, I had to wash them twice anyway. The air conditioning was leaking and wouldn t really cool the apartment down. I went to ask a few times if they could come and fixed it, they never came. Every Monday morning however, the landscaping maintenance team would come around 6:30 or 7:00 to cut trees and the grass right in front of our window. It woke me up at sunrise every single week. We went to the office and asked them if it was possible for the team to come a little bit later, and they just answered that they couldn t because it would be too hot (We lived there for a year and trust me - it wasn t hot in wintertime!). Then we had to give them 2 months notice before we moved out, and they didn t tell us that our automatic rent payment wouldn t go through for the last 2 months. So when we got back from our honeymoon, we had a vacation notice pinned to our door saying that if our rent plus $500 in fines wasn t paid by the following day, they would kick us out. We went to the office and explained that we were gone overseas, and that we didn t know the automatic payments had been cancelled it didn t help. They literally told us either you pay your rent plus every single late fee by tomorrow night, or we will kick you out on the spot. We actually had to go to their corporate office to complain - there at least the people were nice and listened to us: an hour later, everything was settled and we didn t have to pay the fees or get thrown out anymore. The manager at Bayside never even apologized for being so rude. 3 weeks later, when we went to the office to give the keys back, they asked us if we were satisfied overall. We told them that it could have been better, and they answered that things had worked out in our favor yeah, right. Then a week later we received a final notice payment from them, asking that we pay 160 dollars in fines because we gave them just 8 weeks notice instead of a full 2 months notice. This is absurd because we actually went to the leasing office on the exact day of the 2 months notice, and asked if we could get an extra week to give our final answer we hadn t yet decided if we were moving out. They said that it was fine, and didn t tell us that we would be fined for that week. When we returned again to complain about this unexpected fine, they told us that the rules were written in our contract, and that their verbal agreement to give us one more week was not valid from a legal standpoint (thus themselves admitting that their word is worthless). We feel betrayed, they haven t been honest with us so would they with you.
We won t rent there or at equity residential ever again.
