Serena Shores

We lived at Serena Shores for about 3 years during the late 90's. At first it wasn't bad but that all changed. First, it was the roach I stepped on walking into the kitchen barefoot early in the morning. Then scorpions all over the place. Pest control did little if anything. We then transferred to a different unit. The ceiling in the patio started to mold & collapse after heavy rains due to cheap, "throw it up in one day" construction. We fought to get them to fix this but it took forever for the management to take action. During the time we were waiting for repairs, my wife was having allergic reactions to the mold, so we told them we were moving ASAP. The staff did lie to us about terms of the lease however you can't take anything verbal seriously. I had to track down the ex-manager to confirm verbal statements to the new whacked management to help get us out of there without paying a penalty of 3 months rent. I'm glad I took pics of the mold because we finally settled on a fair amount, but not without fighting tooth & nail. I think the owners are a bunch of greedy bastards that assume most people won't put up a fight.
