I lived at VM for 2 years, in those 2 years I had minimal problems, until my A/c unit (according to the final report) caused a huge leak! I came home from California to my basement apartment flooded. I called the emergency mant. and they came right away to vacuum the water up. Not only did they use my electricity to run the fan for 3 days consecutively they also had the nerve to charge me for the damage done to the carpet when my recliner couch rusted the carpet. I fought that and they proceeded to tell me they would drop that issue, however I would still be charged the $790 to replace the carpet due to pet urine from an unauthorized pet! (Of which I never had)! Total bill: Cha-ching! $1,689.00. They wouldn't work with me on payments, nothing. They wouldn't even hold my roommate accountable. I gave them her information several times and they never once contacted her to recoup their loss! We were equal tenants on the lease, but there wasn't equal responsibility when trying to collect for damages. I argued with them for about a year and a half before I finally paid it. This place was a nice place to live, I won't deny that. I never had any problems with robbery, vandalism, auto theft of any kind, but the old management stunk! I drive by sometimes and think "it wouldn't be a bad place to live again", because truly its not the horrible place everyone is making it out to be, or at least it wasn't when I was there, I can't say anything negative about the new management, but the old property management (I think her name was Michelle) was... well, I won't go there. All in all it's a beautiful complex and pretty reasonable rent (or at least it was). I would live there again, only under new management!! More often then not, it's the management that makes the situation pleasant or otherwise!
