Not worth a Grand Every Month...but not an awful place to live

My husband and I have been livig in Arrowhead Summit for about a year and a half. The move in proccess was super-easy and everyone in the office was great. The first problem we had was about 3 months later when our dishwahser stopped working. It took about 4 or 5 days to get someone to fix it. There was also one point when they had not set up an appointment, but came into the apartment anyway. Thank god I was dressed. They're reasoning: we had filled out the "needs attention" spot on our move in sheet in regards to an appliance.

We've had 2 break-ins with are cars, but that's partially my husbands fault for leaving valuables in plain sight.

Everything else was great until we decided to move to a larger apt in Oct of '07. They jerked us around on our move dates a couple of times, leaving us in a mess of days off at work.

They told us that the apartment looked great. New carpet (ok, they got this one right), only one "small stain" on the counter top, all appliances "like new".

When we moved into the new apartment, I was heartbroken. Now, I understand that apartment living does not mean everything is going to be perfect when you move in, but this was crazy. The coat closet smelled like urine, the counters were covered in stains, there was mold in the bottom cabintes, the coatings were peeling off of cabinet doors, the shelf in the fridge door was missing, the screen door (still) doesn't close all the way, and oh so much more. I know we definitely didn't leave our apartment looking like that.

So we talked to them about all our problems with the apartment, and we were told it was all "normal wear and tear of apartment living".

I will agree with a previous poster that this was the cheapest apartment we could find in this part of town (we looked at a 700 sq apt in Camden, just down the street and they wanted $1000. We have a big 2 bedroom for that price). So if you have to live in the area, it's not a terrible chioce. Just don't let them tell you you can't see the apartment before you move into it. They pulled that on us. Now I see why.

ps - new management about 2 months ago, things are going better.
