I was walking my dog once and she barked at another resident and due to the narrowness of the walk way she barked at him, and his dog but she was well restrained within the confines of her leash and I had full control over her(even though she is not violent to begin with just loud mothed and liked to bark) claimed that my dog lunged at him, violently which is entirely untrue and overexaggerated. I can see how someone may have been startled or even mildly frighened by the size and sound of her bark but seriously she made no offensive advances at him and his safety was in no way jeopradized. Never the less he filed a complaint and without even speaking to me or manifesting any form of proof, the placed a legal document on my table placing me in violation of my lease demanding I remove my dog from the property within 5 days to ammend the problem' That would then change the contents of my lease and should release me from the contract signed from them because I had signed it based on the expectation of my pet living with me. Never the less Equity Residential swooped in with their legal dvocery and once friendly front office and residency staff into hostile and condescending people hiding behind "Sorry it's policy sir" And i was then forced to move out of my apartment 3 months before my lease end, pay them the following three months of the lease and evacuate the apartment so that they were free to rent it to someone else or I'd be evicted and have that smeared on my record permanently. I'd be very speculative and cautious when siging a lease with these people. Friends of mine have had different issues with the Policy and it is unclear and up to their discretion. CAREFULL

I agree. their policies are so vague and full of loopholes. I have had 4 supposed"violations" that when I confronted staff with them they would point at whatever paragraph it supposedly fit intoand claim that as their basis. It was ridiculous and they are even adding more "loopholes" to their policies. I honestlybelieve that is also why myrent keepgoing up. Don'tdare tocomplain or they jack up their rent and claim all units that size have the same rent. baloney. steer clear . There are nicer complexes nottoo far down from itthat are reasonable and fair,cleaner and all in all way better :)
