What a hell hole

The only thing that can improve Newport Landing is a tornado or a fire. I saw the reviews and decided to look anyway, and boy were they right. I drove around and noticed a lot of damage and burned out lights, and even saw some character park and start walking around looking into cars. The next day me and my girlfriend went to check out rents and look at an apartment, but I think we had already made up our minds that the place wasn't worth it at any price. I won't rent an apartment if all I can look at is the model - we saw some vacant apartments that didn't have ceiling fans or even the same light fixtures or appliances like the model, so it's very misleading. I don't know how they can call something a clubhouse when it's part of the office, and the theater doesn't work, because we checked. It's an old rear projection model and one of the color lamps is broken so the color is all screwed up. I couldn't turn on the surround or even the DVD player either. They told me it was going to be fixed, but someone wrote a review a long time ago that said it was broken, so I guess they lied to us too.
The pools look decent, and so does the landscaping as long as you don't care about the dog crap. Lots of cats prowling around too, and the smell was everywhere. we took a walk around the back of the complex and noticed a lot of cars that had been sitting a long time (dirt) with expired tags on them. There's also some trailers and other stuff which really makes the place look bad.
They told us the regular rent was $750, but with concessions it would be like $650 with a 14 month lease, and no deposit. I asked one of the tenants what they were paying and they told me $775. That's a big difference and it scared me because I'm sure my rent would go up that much when my lease was up.
The manager wasn't very friendly at all, and I overheard them talking about one of the other ladies in the office. I guess they don't think much about gossiping in front of people looking at renting there.
All in all, I'm glad we decided to rent up in the Arrowhead Ranch area. The rent is more, but it's quiet, secure, the apartments are nicer and within a short walk of lots of shopping and other stuff. If you pay cheap rent, you will have cheap neighbors, and it shows at Newport Landing.
Yuck from me too, and the managers should treat people nicer, or at least offer them something to drink. Mimi should learn to speak English too - what was that, ghetto talk or ebonics' Turned me off the minute she opened her mouth.
