This is the definition of a Slumlord

Newport is a true slum, maintenance is very poor, especially exterior. The crunched carports have been that way for months, exterior lighting is never maintained so it's pitch black in some areas and very unsafe. Crime is very bad and has been getting worse and worse. Cops are always on the property investigating some crime, especially car thefts which are very high for the area. Management is very rude and unprofessional, and go to extremes to hide things from tenants and prospective residents.
The apartments are large and decent, but they don't look anything like the models. Cheap appliances and fixtures, and when they break they take them from another unit, or buy really cheap replacements. Parking is a nightmare if you have two cars or any guests, and you don't want to park in some areas because it's so dark and unsafe.
Security is non-existent, because cars are broken into and stolen every day. Drug and gang activity has really gotten bad too, which is odd since the surrounding area is fairly nice.
Visit the property at night and on the weekend before even thinking about renting.
Management is very poor, and tenant service is horrible. no wonder so many write negative reviews, all of which are accurate and truthful. It's not safe here, many long term residents cannot wait to move. It used to be nice, and then the new management team came in and destroyed it.
Keep looking.
