My wife and I moved out of Newport Landing/The Coves at Newport almost about 5 months ago after living there for almost 4 years. Through our experience, we witnessed the business ownership change 3 times. It seemed like every few months we were being pestered for inspections due to the changes in ownership or adding "upgrades", such as the crappy little 7" radio/tv that they mount to the kitchen cabinets.

One of the biggest things they have working against them is their staff. I hypothesize that 99% of their staff is partially retarded. The other 1% is completely retarded. After moving in, you're lucky if the office staff will even bother to give you the time of day, let alone accepting your rent check on time, and providing you with a receipt, or fetching a package that they received for you. I once witnessed an attempt to break into a resident's car and reported the crime in process to the front office so they could call the police. They couldn't be bothered to acknowledge me. I had to interrupt their conversation to let them know what was going on.

The parking is terrible as well. We were located in the back of the complex. Almost half of the uncovered parking spots were taken up by huge portable dumpsters that were there for MONTHS for their remodeling efforts. Our only covered parking place was literally about 2 city blocks away from our apartment building. It was almost half way across the complex.

The appliances also left something to be desired. Like previous commenters, we were also unable to use the dish washer to actually clean our dishes. We had to resort to doing them all by hand. The dish washer would always leave a nasty white residue on anything we put in there.

One last thing: We moved away from Newport back in May. It's now October and we have still yet to receive our refunded security deposit.

Moving away from that dump was one of the best things we ever did. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away.
