::Caution:: Tacky and blood-thirsty management
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 2/10/2007
Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
To start off with, the former manager, I believe her name was Paula was flat out lazy and rude. She was constantly outside sitting by the pool smoking cigarrettes and rarely offered to assist anyone in the office, judging from all the times I have witnessed residents in the office.
My roomate and I worked for a local payday loan company and were eventually transferred to Las Vegas, NV. Our superiors spoke with Paula on several occasions and wrote a letter stating that it was required for us to break our lease regardless. I personally delivered the letter to Paula and explained that if need be, we would settle out of our lease and in her pleasant tone of voice, she barked, "I don't really have a choice here, kid." I may only be 20 years old but displayed far more professionalism than she could muster. I clarified once again that we were vacating the apartment before our lease was up and she gave me the go-ahead. In retropect, I should have gotten something in writing from her, however, I assumed that everything would be fine.
On moving day, we were informed that management was changing over (this was December 2005) and we were somewhat disappointed that we would be gone for the new management and to see Paula pack all her stuff and get out of that office for some other reason than to pump her lungs with nicotine.
About two months ago, we get a letter stating that we owe "Rancho Santa Fe" a total around $900 because of this situation. I called and spoke to the representative and she stated that management had changed and regardless we owe them the money. I told her that this was ludicris and I would not make a single payment until there was a court order. I warned her that if it showed up on either mine or my roomates credit report there would be a lawsuit. She stated that I needed to figure out how to pay it, and I told her that I had the money but its the principle of the situation that prevents me from covering the cost. I told her that I would rather spend three times the amount on court fees that simply submit to her ridiculous demand. She stated that she would have her superior give me a call and here I am still waiting to hear back from her "superior."
Save yourself the trouble and avoid this whole community. It's a descent place to live other than the fact that our apartment faced the back of target which was a strangely active alley way and also all the raunchy people who lived in the building across from ours. I keep to myself for the most part and I am rarely the first to initiate conversation, however, I found myself getting into a few heated arguments with the urban people around. Speaking of which, many of them (being that I was a manager for a local payday loan store) owed the company a few hundred dollars.
