Worst apartment complex I have ever lived in.

Below is an email I sent to Wasatch Communities on 5/20/2003

Wasatch Premier Communities

Would like you to know that I have been living here for 3 years and overall it has not been a pleasant experience.

First of all, the balcony screen was removed for maintenance ( The outside of the apartment buldings were being painted ) and a note was posted that they would be replaced in about 2 weeks. Understand, I have a ground level apartment and the screen provided privacy and a small level of security so I preferred to have it there. The 2 weeks went by and they were not replaced, I waited for 2 months and inquired of the status with management, I was informed that they were replacing them on a sectional basis and that they had not gotten to my section yet. Another 3 months went by and the screen was still not replaced, AGAIN I inquired and this time I was told they were in storage and they were " Working on it". Another 4 months went by and Finally after bugging management for NINE months the screen was replaced. That}s right NINE MONTHS.

The next incident was the problem I had with the dishwasher, it would not close properly and was leaking water, I informed management and they fixed the water leak but never fixed the appliance so it closes poperly and I must push the handle up under the plastic lip above it to close it and open it with a utensil handle.

This next maintenance episode is one that REALLY takes the cake, I had water leakage in the sink area next to the bathroom that was soaking the carpeting, again informed management and had to follow up on a daily basis to get someone to look at resolving it, after one week a maintenance person came in, found the problem and had to cut a 2}x2} hole in the bathroom wall to get at the pipes to resolve the problem. Once again, there was no follow up and the hole in the bathroom wall remained there for 3 months, again after "nagging" management the hole was replaced with a piece of sheet rock, but not taped, plastered or painted. It remained in that state for another 6 months and after nagging management AGAIN the hole was taped, plastered and painted but the other side they needed to access from under the kitchen sink remains to this day unfinished and there is a hole were the electrical socket is exposed and a plastery mess under the sink. The real kicker on this one is that about one year after the leak was fixed one of the maintenance crew knocked on my door to inquire about a leak in the bathroom area, I could not help myself and burst into laughter while at the same time informing him that he was 12 months too late and it had already been done.

( What kind of records does management keep ' Any at all ' )

The next problem I had was termites in the ceiling, it took 9 months of nagging and 3 visits to get that resolved.

The air conditioning has been an ongoing problem for 3 years, it leaks condensation onto the carpet and after running for a few hours emits warm air instead of the desired cold, again, I informed management and upon returning home a note was left on the door that only said " AC ", the problem has not been resolved and I am in the process of playing the "game" with management again.

The mailbox area has been vandalized several times and the gates are left open on a constant basis, as a matter of fact the trash container is constantly used as a door stop to keep one of the gates open.

Upon entering the laundry room about 1 year ago to do my laundry and opening the first washing machine I was disgusted to the point of vomiting after discovering that 5 of the washing machines had been used as toilets and had large deposits of what appeared to be human fecal matter in them, I did my laundry at a local laundramat for one month after that. Again, like the mailboxes, this area has locks and is supposed to be secure to prevent this type of vandalism but the doors are left unlocked on a regular basis.

Is this the type of service Wasatch provides to it}s renters '

A very close ( And obviously uninformed ) friend of mine recommended Ranchwood to me and I was under the impression it would be a pleasant place to live, obviously I was wrong in every sense of the word.

My lease expires on 8/2003, I do not make any noise, bother any of the other residents and have always paid my rent on time.

As much as I dislike the thought of moving I am seriously considering leaving Ranchwood when my lease is up.

UPDATE: 8/29/2005

It has now been over 2 years since I sent the above email to Wasatch. They never responded. Obviously they do not care about the living conditions, maintenance or the personal safety of the residents. They do however care if you are late on the rent I bet.

Common courtesy dictates that if you are running a business of this type and someone voices a complaint and/or concern that you address it, it only makes sense and is conduscive to good customer service. Obviously Wasatch's only concern is their positive cash flow.

The type of clientel that reside at this "Ghetto in the Desert" are of below average intelligence and will in fact be your neighbhors. You have been forwarned.

The police are there so often I would sit on my porch and watch it like live entertainment instead of television.

I moved from Ranchwood and am very glad I did.

I will never rent from them nor shall I recommend them to anyone in the future.

If you decide to live here do so at your own risk.
