scorpions

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
I lived here from August 2006 - April 2007. I was able to break my lease early due to the HUGE SCORPION INFESTATION. I specifically asked the leasing agent when I moved in if there was a scorpion problem, as I was debating between this property and another, but the other had said they had scorpions. After being assured there was no problem, I began to find them within 2 weeks of living there. I grew up in Arizona and have NEVER seen one of these. These are the bark scorpions, which are the only scorpions known to be fatal to humans. Anyways, in the time I lived there, I killed more than 30 scorpions in and around my apartment and lived in constant fear of stepping on or finding one in my sheets or clothes. I even caught a bunch and put them in a glass jar and took them to the office once. That was a nice way to convince them to let me move out early. Luckily, I was never stung. Apparently scorpions "hibernate" during the colder months, so from about December - April I only found 1 or 2 in my apartment. I was able to break my lease early to get out of there before they became active again. The maintenance guy laughed when he did my aparment check and told me it was a huge problem, but only on the north side of the street. Everyone I talked to on the south side never had a problem. Anyways, other than the scorpions, I have no complaints.
