Not worth the price

Mark-Taylor apartments are usually reliable apartments with excellent service and finishings. San Prado is an exception. Unlike fellow and nearby Mark-Taylor apartment San Lagos, San Prado was not carefully constructed. It was rushed to meet the entering classes of graduate schools, Midwestern and Thunderbird universities. Thus the infrastructure of the complex is very shoddy. The service at the complex is simply substandard. Considering the high rent, you would expect the office staff to insure your happiness and respond to needs in a timely fashion. The manager rarely comes out to greet customers and the others just smile but do little in terms of serving your needs. I have been here for barely one year and they have raised the rent twice. They get away with charging so much because there isn't enough housing to support the students at both Midwestern and Thunderbird graduate schools. I'm not a student so I feel like I'm getting poorly treated for these rent hikes.

Despite the nice finishings and style of the apartments, the apartments are poorly built. Common complaints from fellow renters concern the weak molding of the bathrooms, the poor ducting in the ventilation so that one or more rooms are not properly cooled. Insect problems regarding first floor apartments are common. First floor balconies are practically uninhabitable as dirt collects from them due to the landscaping. The maintenance crew is quick to address cheap or easy to fix problems but are hesitant to fix major problems or problems that could potentially cost a lot of money.

Don't get me wrong, the apartments are pretty nice and they have the standard amenities associated with most high-end Mark-Taylor apartments. But I pay nearly 1000 dollars for a one bedroom studio which is ridiculous. You simply do not get your bang for your buck so I would look at San Lagos or some of the high end apartments near Arrowhead mall. They may be further away but you will get your moneys worth.
