On Friday mornings at around 8 AM begins the leaf-blower marathon. It is so loud, my ears are sore afterwards (and that is with the windows shut). If you work late and sleep at this time, there is no hope of sleeping through it. I can never sleep for as long as they are running, which is several hours.
On rare but memorable occasions, I have witnessed the *screaming* of profanity and death threats in the parking lot in the middle of the night.
One day I woke up to find a work crew in my apartment without my permission.
There is a rancid odor that seems to emanate spontaneously from under the kitchen sink. I suspect that it is due to a leak, but I'm too lazy to bug the maintenance people.
I suspect that the air conditioner, which is some custom set-up that does not fit any air filter right and is filled with dust, is making me sick. For this reason in particular, I look forward to leaving here.
In every other respect the apartments are fine.
Response to post:
I agree that the landscaping is quite nice here. But, to quote Mr. William Shatner, Leaf-blowers is there anything more futile'!
My comment about the air-filter was that there is no filter that fits the vent properly. As a result, before I even moved in, there was a ton of dust built up in the unit. I have never had allergies before, but I do occasionally have bouts of sneezing and congestion inside this apartment that seems to coincide with running the a/c. I merely suspect that the two are related.
I have changed my original to post to recommended because I have lived here for about two years and never had a single roach, and that is a huge plus. However, it appears that you are paying a premium here to live near a bus stop, shopping centers, and ASU West. If living near those things does not matter to you, I am sure you can find a better deal elsewhere.

Okay, so the disturbing landscaping could be irritating, but at least there are landscapers to take care of the complex. The place I am moving from hasn't had landscaping for months, and it looks like a jungle walking down the sidewalk.
The maintenance issues are minimal, which is a good thing. I was expecting much worse. But I must say, from my own experience, that some things we can do ourselves. Like change our filters (I have asthma and allergies), light bulbs and other little things that I used to call the maintenance for.
Glad to see that everything else was okay, kind of. Hopefully, my experience will be pretty normal while living here.
