AVOID THESE APARTMENTS LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

The Adiamo Palm Valley apartments are a horrible place to live. The buildings are acceptable and pretty new, but the management is the worst, most meddling, horrible group of people I have ever met. I moved in to the Alexan Palm Valley apartments in August '06. I moved in to a brand new one bedroom apartment. The management was courteous and treated me with respect. A few months later, the property was bought out, and new management moved in. They got rid of all but one of the people that used to work there. Immediately the new management started making changes for the worse.
On several occasions around the time they changed management, they came in to do "inspections" on the apartments. I understand they want to inspect the property, and one inspection can be tolerated. However, when they come in to your apartment 3 or 4 times, it becomes very intrusive. One time a maintenance guy came in to mount a fire extinguisher, then another time they came to change the air filter. Changing the air filter only takes 60 seconds, but this guy messed with it for 15 minutes, and ended up not putting all the screws back in. I hope the apartments don't charge me for that missing screw.
The new management made a lot of unnecessary changes, made up new rules that weren't on the rental agreement, and proceeded to enforce them like Nazis. One of the first little things they did is change the gate key thing when you come in. There are two gates, one on the left, and one on the right. You would hold your key card to the left reader to open the left gate, and hold it near the right to open the right gate. They changed it without informing the residents and for a while everyone was accidentally opening the wrong gate. They also changed their name from Alexan Palm Valley to Adiamo Palm Valley, and draped ghetto vinyl signs over the nice stone Alexan signs at the entrance.
When I moved in, I was told that we were welcome to have guests over and drink at the pool as long as we didn't bring any glass containers. One time I was talking to one of my friends in the parking lot, with a bottle of beer in my hand, and this security rent a cop rudely interrupted us and informed me that we weren't allowed to have alcohol outside. I told him that is was OK to have alcohol at the pool, and it should definitely be just fine in the parking lot. He then told me that it wasn't ever allowed and wrote my name down in this little notepad that he had. Ever since the management changed, I've been treated like a juvenile delinquent by all the employees there. I'm 23 years old, and I pay these idiots $900 to live in their stupid apartments - I demand some respect!
Another stupid rule they made up was you can't back your car into your parking spot. I talked to a few of the tenants, and they told me they found tickets on their car for that. The management also did not inform anyone of this change in rules. Another rule they have is you can not work on your car at the apartments. When I moved in, they also had this rule, but they did not enforce it quite so viciously. I was told that you can't do any major work or change oil, but if you need to change a tire or something like that, it would be ok. My neighbor in the apartments asked them if he could have a mobile repair person come and change his windshield, and they would not allow it on the premises. Changing a windshield only takes 30 minutes and does not cause any kind of mess.
One time my wife crashed her car just outside the apartments because there is a lot of landscaping, and you can't see oncoming vehicles in the street. I decided instead of getting the car towed and taken to a body shop that I would fix it myself. The people from the office told me I couldn't park the car in the apartments any more because it was wrecked. The car was still drivable, but the front bumper was smashed and the hood was folded up. They did however see the opportunity to exploit this event and let me rent a garage for $100 a month. I fixed the car in that garage, and of course they came and harassed me numerous times and sent me an eviction notice. I was done with the car and cleaned out the garage in 4 days, but they would not take it back, saying I could give them a 30 day notice to vacate the garage. I paid $100 to rent the garage for 4 days.
This other time some guy shot another guy in the apartments because he was with his ex-girlfriend. A bunch of police were there all night. About a week later I was messing with the radio in my car and one of the security rent a cops came and harassed me asking if it was my car or not. I told him it was mine, and about 15 minutes later 4 cop cars showed up because someone called and said I was trying to steal my car. I told them I already own it, so why would I want to steal it'
One of my friends got harassed for changing the battery in his car. I was there and told the girl from the office that if we don't change the battery, the car won't start. They didn't care, and wanted the car to be towed to somewhere else to change the battery. Another time, I helped one of my friends put his side-view mirror back on his car. It's nothing special, just requires a couple screws and 5 minutes of time to do. I had my drill out to drill one hole. I was already done when the manager lady came running out of the office to harass me. She threatened to break in to my friend's apartment so she could unplug the extension cord to the drill.
There are a couple good things about the apartments. You get one covered parking spot, and the pool is pretty. There are also lots of uncovered parking spots, so it's pretty easy to find a spot for your car. It used to be really bad trying to park your car, but enough people moved out because they hate the apartments, that parking is plentiful now. The pool looks ok, but I've gotten sick every time I've used it. I'm not sure if they maintain the water properly.
The buildings seem to be in good condition only because they're new. One of the first things that broke was the toilet handle. They had the cheapest plastic one ever made. Other people have also had problems with this. The floor also poked me when I walked barefoot between the tile and carpet. There were some nails that stick up, probably to hold the carpet, that you could feel. The carpet in the place is horrible. The first few times I vacuumed the carpet, I got a bag full of carpet fiber from just one room. Then a bunch of dark mystery stains showed up. The carpet does get dirty near the door, but I found a few stains in the middle of the room for no apparent reason. One of my friends also has a lot of problems with the carpet in his apartment. I never abused the carpet or made any messes, but I will have to steam clean it, and possibly pay to have it replaced because it was such poor quality.
I finally had enough harassment and lack of respect for tenants from the staff of the Adiamo Palm Valley Apartments. I moved out of the Adiamo Palm Valley apartments on June 10, 2007. They said I had to give them 60 days notice for moving out. To terminate the lease early, I had to pay 2 months rent, plus pay back the $1300 move-in credit I got when I signed the lease. 2 x 900 1300 = $3,100 just to move out!!!! My lease expires September 10, 2007. It's cheaper just to pay the rent until the lease expires, so here I am paying these people for an apartment I don't live in.
Don't make the mistake I did. Stay away from Adiamo Palm Valley!!!
