Camden at Vista Valley formerly The Park at Vista Valley
< | >
On September 10th my husband and I came into the leasing office for
Camden Vista Valley. We were shown a model of
a smaller 2 bedroom 2 bath, as there was no model available of the
larger unit. WE decided to go with the larger unit anyways, and did
the paperwork, held the unit, turned in our money and set the move in
date for September 21st. (8 working days away....)
We called the office the day before move in, to confirm that
everything was ready.
On move-in day, September 21st my husband and I arrived at the office
at 9 am to pick up our keys. I had the movers waiting at my old place
to start all we needed was to get our keys. I picked them up and we
went to the unit to see it for the first time....
I walked in and there were 3 maintenance guys in the kitchen doing
something under the sink... I was surprised as the unit was supposed
to be ready yesterday. I began looking around and I could see that the
carpet was installed poorly... there was gaps at the edges and places
it was frayed.... the bathroom vanity was horrible... mismatched and
with gaping holes, not all the drawers opened correctly... there were
stains and discoloration....
I was stunned... as I was looking in the front closet a cockroach
crawls out and skitters across the wall... theres more of them in the
2nd bedroom... on the carpet and the baseboards.. i was pissed...
absolutely fuming!! this apartment was NOT in move-in condition.. it
obviously had a roach infestation and needed a lot of work.. the
dishwasher was held together with tape, they were still working on the
plumbing, the cabinets throughout the place were barely working and
looked disgusting!!
The model we were shown was BEAUTIFUL!! I didn't expect perfection,
but this was a world away from what I would tolerate.
We went to the office, I was almost in tears... I had everything set
to move into the apt, all my utilities, my movers ... and there was no way
I was going to be in that ghetto-dump.
We spoke with the manager, Dahn, she was apologetic and said that she
would see if there was another unit available. I was livid - I asked
her if she had looked at the unit - she said no. I asked her why they
don't walk through to make sure they were presentable... I showed her
the pictures I took with my digital camera... I asked her if she would
be willing to live there, she said no.
There were no large 2 bedrooms units available.. all they had was the
smaller one that we could get into today.
We agreed to take it after we looked at it to make sure it was not in
the same condition. Granted it wasn't as nice as the model either, but
at least it wasn't a slum.
We signed the new lease and after over and hour I was able to get
started on the move... however it took days to sort out the mess with
the utilities and to get them forwarded correctly....
I am happy in my new apartment and glad that they had somewhere
else to put me....
My concern lies in the fact that this happened at all... There is no
excuse for not having the apartment ready... they had almost 2 full
weeks to get it done... you can completely renovate an apartment in
that much time... I also can not believe that Camden is renting out
apartments that nasty and slummy knowingly... I thought Camden was a
reputable company.. advertising "living excellence" and that was not
excellence...
I have attached some pictures so you can see some of the issues... I
can send you the rest if you wish.
I just want to know that this doesn't happen to someone else.... I
really feel let down about the whole situation. If I had had the time
and the money I would have just gone to a different company when Dahn
said she didn't have a better unit in my same floor plan.... luckily
for Camden I didn't have time to do that.
