I lived at Cortona the past two years, but moved last month to be closer to work. I don't get the last review about 'the younger generation' not being welcome - I'm in my 20s and enjoyed living there. The landscapers are there every Wednesday or Thursday morning (not every day), at approximately 8am. Personally I liked that they worked so hard to keep the place up! It's a good area of Mesa, nice shopping, and I always felt safe outside at night. I work from home a lot, so quiet was important to me - and for apartments, Cortona is fairly calm & quiet. I definitely had some 'interesting' neighbors, some real characters, but they were by and large nice people. My next door neighbor always watched out for me, & took care of my cat when I was out of town. The office staff was always fantastic, especially Jason - they always resolved my maintenance issues and were friendly and welcoming. The apartments have a good layout (I had a one bedroom). Some things were older, but everything worked properly & was clean. No place is perfect, here are some problems I had: in my area there was little uncovered parking, so guests often had to park & walk. No gate codes, so again getting guests in after hours could be difficult. I lived on the ground floor, so sometimes I got beetles, no ants though, or creepy bugs like roaches. Fairly thin walls, so if you do have inconsiderate neighbors you will hear them. The office will handle them though, as long as you tell them once yourself to keep it down.
