The apartment is spacious, neighbors are friendly, parking lot is well lit, and I feel safer here than other spots nearby. The appliances are OLD, but the maintenance staff is VERY efficient and helpful. The office staff is generally very friendly and ------has a great rapport with just about everyone here. It's the property manager, ------, and her "boss" with whom I have problems. ------ is probably the most hateful woman I have ever encountered and she makes it a point to announce her superiority at any possible interchange. She favors certain tenants without concern, allowing them to break her "No Drug or Party" policy on a regular basis, while we get fined for having more than two people over for dinner. Overall, this place is quiet and most everybody keeps to themselves, but I feel that's more because we never know who is the manager's narc and who is really just trying to live their lives without fear of persecution. This complex has had numerous lawsuits and complaints filed against it for the management's ethical violations, yet ------ still works here. When I moved in, I was told that I could have pets. A week later, I was handed a letter informing me that there were no pets allowed and I had 10 days to get rid of my animal or be evicted. Nevermind that ------ has a duck and a virtual entourage of cats who roam the neighborhood, howling at all hours, and that, despite her no dog policy, a favored tenant in the back has a terrier. I can't have a pet at all unless it stays in a cage. I posted a small mezuzah on my doorpost as a religious observance and was told to take it down becuase it was an "eyesore." Nevermind that ------ held a Christmas decorating contest and gave discounted rent rates to "the most festive" decorations. I got fined for noise when my boyfriend and best friend came over for dinner. Never mind that my neighbor upstairs, another favored tenant, regularly has parties of upwards of 15 people that tend to go on into the wee hours of the morning. I was also told that this complex was drug free, but my neighbors all seem to be major pot heads and I can't go out for a breath of fresh air on weekends because the whole place reeks of marijuana. There's supposed to be a way for me to report crime, so when I reported that some crackhead kept trying to break into my apartment at 4am, I expected to be assisted in eliminating the crime. I didn't expect to be told that I was encouraging the criminal by wearing makeup and a suit to my job every day, nor was I expecting to be told that I should just "get over it." I ended up calling Mesa PD and having them step up patrols in the area, which I was then fined for while being told that I encouraged criminal activities. Without ------, this place would be ideal. With her, I do NOT recommend moving in AT ALL.
