I must moved to AZ from MI not even 2 months ago (staying with family), and I found Epernay Apts. Very reasonable price, friendly staff. Anyway, I signed my lease Sunday after viewing the apt 4 times, and I had to wait until Tuesday to move in when the electric got switched into my name. I jus picked the keys up today, and at the office she said they just finished everything and had pest control there yesterday I believe, and I went there to start moving things in, and the first thing I see when I turn on the light is a cockroach crawling on the living room floor!! I freaked out. Then I see another run into the bedroom!! Anyway, to make a long story short, after being there for only 5 minutes, I came across 9 cockroaches!! If it was just fumigated, I would like to know how so many are in there. I can understand maybe one, but I have seen many other apts. that have NONE. Anyway, I am not sleeping there (obviously) my first night, and I spoke with someone in another building and he said he has never had one problem the 5 months he has been there. So, tomorrow I will see about switching to another building, but I am not sure how this is going to turn out. I am really creeped out, I have NEVER had cockroaches in a house or apt I have lived in. So, I am going to give them a chance, but first impressions always last, and this was not a good one. If anyone else has dealt with this, I would love to know what happened.

You need to get a clue your not in MI anymore! The recent storms bring out the sewer roaches as does an empty apt with no running water in the pipes.I live in a beautiful home and have then after a storm on away on vacations. Semms your being a bit harsh. My mother has lived at Epernay never had any problems always quiet. Please give it a chance!

Get a clue I am not in MI? HA! I have talked with MANY people, who live roach free in AZ. Yes the climate is different, but that has NOTHING to do with living in a clean environment. And these are not sewer roaches that I am referring to. I am living in a home now in a historic district, that was not occupied for 10 days while she was away on vacation, and didnt come home to any bugs. This place is RIDICULOUS! I am now trying to move into my second apartment with Epernay, still roach infested. It is now 2 weeks that I have been trying to move in, and still am not able to, because every single time I step foot in the door there are more live roaches. So I think I have given it more than a chance. Some people may be ok with living like that, but I am not. And where I am living now, I can no longer live here, so because of Epernay, I will soon be homeless. So please, before you attempt to give feedback, know the situation. You must be a worker there, because why would you care if I gave it a chance or not if your mother lived there. The employees/management obviously don't care about who they rent to. They just want to get people in there, they don't care if they are providing a safe and clean environment for someone to live in. Roaches carry MANY diseases. I wonder if the Health Dept knows about this yet.... Hmmmmm...
Not to mention... the money I have wasted buying cleaning supplies, and the time I have spent for NOTHING. I was going 4 times a day, and killing roaches each and every time. Once a place gets infested, it takes a whole lot more than bombing once and spraying every now and then to get rid of them. Unless every building is emptied for months, there will always be a roach problem. I feel bad for anyone moving in there, or anyone that already lives there. I am far from a dirty person, and just being inside makes me feel dirty. I have to disinfect myself each time I step out of the apt to make sure I don't have any of the roach eggs stuck in my shoes or anything because they will still hatch. I have too much to say on this... It's not just one apt. this is the second apt I have tried to move into, and there is still a problem, and the buildings are on opposite sides of the complex, and also, when the neighbors that I have talked to said they have a problem, and have the WHOLE year they have lived there, THERE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE! I am not ok with coming home each day and flipping on the lights to check for bugs and have to kill one each day, and keep drain covers on to keep them from coming up the drains. That is crazy, and nobody should have to live like that, unless of course they chose to, which clearly the tenants of Epernay do.

truth is that they don't fumigate. They spray a liquid bug deterrent around the outside and along the inside baseboards. I have roaches bad in my complex too even though they "spray" every week. I have kept them at bay though with poisons and Raid. It works, but you'll most likely have to do the upkeep. Good luck!

yea, they claim they fumigate. they crumbled up the paper that states pest control was there that they are supposed to post on the outside of the door, and i found it laying behind a table. im going through alot of crap with them, i recently moved back to michigan, and they are trying to charge me $1200, when i followed all the correct procedures to legally terminate my lease. looks like i may have to fly back down there to go to court. really a shame that they try to force people to live with roaches. and i also did try my own remedies, wasting my money on cleaning supplies, wasting my time cleaning and doing my own bombs, going between two apartments, it was ridiculous. i wish i would of found this site before i signed the lease, that i never received a copy of anyway. they need to provide other housing for everyone for months and take care of the problem that way. i understand its a different climate, although i have talked to many people who say they never had a roach problem in their apt. it's because Epernay allows 7 people to stay in a one bedroom apt (the people below me were like that) everyone needs to be cautious, do not rent here. they are terrible, and management is just as bad.
