Cheap For A Reason!

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
I'm a contractor, with my own company. Most of my money goes to my business right now, so the cheap rent seemed great. Well, the truth is these apartments are old and have all the problems that come with outdated construction. The plumbing is terrible, with leaks from the upstairs bathroom into the kitchen. I get along with most of my neighbors in my building and the ones across from me. I've learned we ALL have the same problems. We also all have the same bathtub. Its a two piece bathtub/shower, so it has a gap betwen the pieces where caulking rotted away. It collects mold and drips to the wall behind it, and also out onto the wall. The wall gets all puffy from the water and moldy. These bathtubs need to be ripped out, changed, and the drywall ripped out too. Its a class action lawsuit waiting to happen.
Like someone else said, there are floorboards that are broken and sunken in, but these ARE apartment that are 30 years old, so it's not that big of a deal to me.
There is literaly NO INSULATION. Nope, NONE! I dont have to turn my heat on in the winter because I'll get warm from my neighors heat being on. Thats NOT a joke. I can hear everything my neighbors say and do to the "stop beating me", to other very, um, explicit things.
Some people are dirty, loud, and act like they need to be shipped back to the ghetto. Can we get some background checks please' They gave me a hard time moving in since I was self employed. Well, you cant tell they have any "standards" looking at some of these creeps around here.
Things break all the time, and maintanance never comes. Luckily I know how to fix everything myself. I feel sorry for single women, or people who must rely on maintanance.
I've read someone say "if you want it fixed the way you want it buy a home or shut up". This is false. Remember that you pay money to live here. You fill your obligation and they must fill theirs. No excuses. You dont pay management because they are wonderful, you pay them to live here, and expect livable conditions. It's not just whats right, its the law.
