I used to live there about three years ago with my family. When we first moved in it was very nice, the grounds were kept up maitenance was always available the staff was friendly ahd helpful. We renewed our lease for another six months and during that time I have no idea what happened. First the staff, since these apartments are gov't subsidized meaning based on your income is how much you can afford in rent. So basically trash starting moving in, trailer trash, college kids. And I was late a few times on the rent and when I would call the office to make arrangements there was no communication whatsoever between the staff. I was told by one person what I needed to pay as far as late charges and when I brought the rent in, I was told by someone else something totally different. So I would let them know that the person I spoke with initially told me this is how much I owe so if you have a problem then you take it up with her. And it was always Lori who and I don't care how long she was a manger there, has her head up her ass. Then, upon moving out giving our 30 day notice she decided to extend our lease another week so we would have time to move out. How nice of her, but we had an obligation to our new landlord that we be in our house by Jan 1st, so by Dec 31st we turned in the keys. This was in 2005 two years later, I was checking my credit report to find that the last amount I owed for January for $300 turned into $1150.00. For two years, this woman had my forwarding address to send me the bill they have my phone number. No phone call. I admit I was supposed to have paid the bill, but for what' Because she couldn't find anyone to rent the apartment to after we moved out' What a crock, that's not my problem we no longer lived there, we owed nothing to them. Plus they were cleaning fees I don't know what for because I always clean my apartment before I move out. I take it upon myself to make sure the place is clean before they rent it out. So I wrote Lori a letter basically telling her that she needs to go back to management school and that instead of doing her job, she instead sent my bill to collections. I don't understand the rudeness and unprofessionalism of Arizonans. In New York, there is a reason why landlords ask for 1st, last month and security deposit. If you can't make your rent on time, they don't immediatley send a five day notice to vacate, there is a process they must follow and by the time you get served to pay your rent you would have come up with the rent plus all the late fees. You don't like it, go back to New York. Having lived in NY for 3mos a few years ago, it was the worst experience in my life. Arizona may be a wannabe California and charged California prices (but fail to match the California wages!), but the people are no where near as rude as the people I dealt with the 3mos I was in NY. I'll never go back, not even for a visit.
