I moved into Monterey Point on short notice, after being transferred to Arizona by my Employer. I had only 1 day in which to locate housing, the place looked very nice, so I felt that I could not go wrong, under the cirsumstances. It was during the day when I visited the property, so there were few vehicles there to indicate the prevailing socio-ecnomic status of the other residents. Shortly after moving in however, I was approached by a "Pan Handler" in the parking lot asking for money. I started to notice the stereo-typical "Gang Mobiles" crusing the lot with their lowered bodies and ultra wide tires. After two months my girlfriends car was broken into, the Police seemed to be visting the neighbors frequently, and the "security lighting" in the parking lot was inoperative more often than operative. The kicker was, when I moved in, the Leasing agent told me that they had to replace one of the Ceiling Fans prior to my arrival, and she commented "we're always having to replace these cheap fans". About 1 week before I moved out, that very same fan came apart, for apparently no reason other than just poor materials. Monterey Point billed me for the fan, and "dinged" my Credit Report when I refused to pay for it! What' I was swinging from the Fan to damage it' Sure!
In short ... stay away from Montery Point!

Im a newer resident,2005 to current. Seems this place has gone frm bad to worse. 2005 they at least had the gates shut, a fence to block car view frm 6th st and security on the grounds.New owners just bought the property and cut the already ridiculously short maint/sec staff to 0 sec and 2 maint. They also raised the rents, their water bill, ( sent to you hell 34.00 per month for 2 people never home is more than a house with yards ) app 100 more in all. The staff is nasty, aggressive and unprofessional. In a few short months many residents are talking. It seems this Manager and trainee are breaking laws as far as landlord/tennant state and federal. Doubt they will see much profit when they lose in court and they will.People left LA, Chicago, to get away from this kind of nonsense. This property future is bleak............
