I have lived at the Moorings for almost 9 years and the layout is very nice, only slightly dated but its ok. Personally I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. With that being said, I will agree there are some lingering issues that could be addressed. A few years ago they were letting anyone move in and it showed. They let HUD join in and you had people that paid a lot and others that did not pay as much and IT SHOWED. Also the complex wasn???t putting any money back in to complex (or so it seemed) then had the gull to raise my rent slightly. 2 days later my car got broken into. There are some lingering security issues. The Mooring is right off of the SRP canal path and anyone can walk into the complex. It is up to the renter to be proactive in keeping their vehicles safe??? that is why you have insurance right? It is only slight they complexes responsibility to keep things safe??? if they are going to steal your car they are GOING to steal your car! However I would applaud an actual in person, in the flesh in some type of security role. Just having a visible security guard on site would deter crime. Not like they can???t afford to pay for one with the price of rent they charge here. These days they have put what looks like several tens of thousands of dollars in the complex. I am NOT crazy with the hepatitis yellow with loud blue doors but I???ll get used to it. They have updated the landscaping which actually alright but I am BEYOND incensed that they cut down 88 of the most beautiful shade tree throughout the complex; leaving all the ugly nasty trees in place. They???ll tell you its because of building damage... I find that less than completely believable, some (most) of these trees were 22 years old... same age as the complex itself. If there was damage done to the building it would have happened long ago. In my opinion it would have been better to remove tree on an as needed basis. Again you would think that with the price of rent here that they would have plenty of cash on hand to fix any building issues as they happen and isn't that what insurance is for? What is worse is they have no intention of replacing the trees. In this day of global warming planting new trees is needed. Now all the wild life that were in these massive trees are not making nests in the overhangs of the buildings. My balcony has never seen so much bird dropping... I believe that this could be a health issue that should be address by the City of Mesa if the complex doesn???t quickly solve that problem. However it is their complex they can do what they want... why would we need any more shade trees here in the Valley? I mean come on, I am seriously looking forward to giving SRP more of my hard earned money each month since the lovely shade tree that kept the afternoon sun out is no longer there. Unfortunately there is a dog waste problem but it is not as bad as the above person makes it seem. I have heard rumors that they are adding dog waste station through out the complex. And there is a $100 fine for not picking up after your pet. I clean up after mine. I have defended this complex many time publicly and on camera. I have NO issues, not enough to make me want to move at least or ones that can not be maturely solved with a little effort and communications. I HONESTY would not live anywhere else. I am hoping that with all the work they are putting into the complex that they will turn them into condos like originally designed so I can buy mine. As far as the office staff from what I know of them, admitted not as much as I have know the previous office staff but so far I find the competent and professional. The maintenance team has improved quite a bit since I have moved in and I believe most of them live on site which is a bonus in case of an emergency which I have rarely have. Bottom line is after 8 years the complex has gone from really great to fairly poor to now to where I would classify it ???positively improving???. They are definitely heading in the right direction.
