One of the main reasons we moved from this place is because we felt UNSAFE. Our rear car window was smashed with a crow bar (see picture) and our neighbor s passenger side car window was smashed a week after that. And some kid said their friend s car window was smashed a month before that.
And lets not forget that there was a SHOOTING here in Feb 2009. Police came to our door at midnight and asked if we saw anything. He said that he s been to this complex way too many times and advised us to get out as soon as we could. A few nights later there were a group of cops talking outside our apartment saying how Sonora Vista was a liability... nice! Oh, and the new security guards are actually cops searching for the shooter. Before we moved out we asked one of them if they had found the shooter and he said they hadn t...
The apartments are cheap for a reason! The walls and ceilings are *very* thin. You can hear every footstep upstairs, which is a nightmare if you have kids running, jumping, banging and playing loud music all the time! And you can easily hear your neighbors next door. The stairs leading to the second floor are poorly made. They are directly attached to the apartment wall so it echoes loudly every time someone uses them or when the kids decide to hit them with a stick.
Noise is a problem here. Lots of loud bass music, it makes the walls shake. Plus you can hear music from the other side of the apartment complex. We always heard screaming and shouting from our neighbors and parents beating their kids. Kids seemed to always skateboard right next to our apartment. It wouldn t be so bad it the segmented concrete path didn t make it extra loud.
We ve had problems with bad kids I ve seen kids punching other kids (bullying, not rough-housing), knocking on our door and running away, wrote rude words on our door in permanent marker, broke our window with a BB gun, and they would *always* throw rocks at windows and walls because they were bored. We d tell them to stop but they carry on doing it. A couple of months back there were some young kids smashing bricks with a pick axe and hammer. The manager came out and said I ve never seen kids as bad as the kids in this apartment complex! At least she s honest!
This place isn t kept up that great either. The laundry rooms are filthy with busted walls. And the pools are filthy. Plus the dumpsters outside are *always* over flowing. The garbage men don t bother picking up the trash around the dumpster any more. The flies are terrible (see pictures)
It s a shame because the floorplans are big for the price, but I think it should be quality not quantity. All I can say is if you really don t have enough money and you can t find a better deal on craigslist then I guess it s alright for a very last resort...
