ROACH INFESTATIONS, POOR MANAGEMENT, TERRIBLE LIVING CONDITIONS

Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2002

I lived in Southbank apartments from 2000-2002. Unfortunately I did not do my homework before moving in and was locked into a years lease so I could not move. The first day I was to move in other people were living in the unit I was promised so I was forced to take a unit site unseen. The apratment was dirty and in poor condition but I was told that was the only unit available. Later I noted several empty units. The noise from above was terrible. There were at least 15 people living in the apartment above and they played their music very loudly all hours of the day and night. I would report this to management and was told they could do nothing about it. People were always parked in my parking space forcing me to park far away from my apartment. Again the could do nothing about it. But the worst came 10 months into my lease. The 15 people moved from upstairs and people in hazmat gear came to clean. Within days my apartment was roach infested. Roaches coming from light fixtures, in our beds, in cabinets, on our food, everywhere. The apartments sprayed twice. When I continued to complain the sent someone to spray a third time. The exterminator showed up at 9pm and told me and my children would have to be out of the house for 3 hours until midnight that night. We had no where to go so I had to refuse. I am sure the management did that on purpose because of my complaints. After that they refused to spray again because I had refused once. I even called the health department who investigated and agreed I had a roach "infestation" but as long as the apartments sprayed they could do nothing about it. I even requested to change apartments. But was denied. I finally couldn't take in and with time days left on my lease I gave a 30 day notice and moved. Believe it or not Southbank sued me for the last months rent and despite the report from the health department, documentation of all complaints of roach infestations which made the apartment uninhabitable I lost and was required to pay a lot more than just one month. So if you are looking for a decent place to live with good management this is not the place for you. x-2PE3sjUIIeetAHoKOk
