What do you expect''

It isn't too bad. What can you expect when you are only paying $500/month. My boyfriend and I were impressed by the former manager, Joan. She was highly active in attempting to make the property and better and safer place for residents. But then she left. And now the people in the office are rude and apathetic. Thankfully we have not had many maintenance issues because I hear it is virtually impossible to A) get them to your apartment to assess situation, B) get them to come back and fix problem, and C) actually have it fixed correctly.
PROS:
Location, location, location. There are far worse areas of Mesa. The apartments are right off the freeway, close to grocery stores, gas station, Target, restaurants, shopping, and movies.
Rent. The one bedrooms are not huge, but they aren't sardine cans either. For $500/month it could be worse.
One story buildings. It is nice not having noisy upstairs neighbors or having to walk up stairs to your apartment.
Laundry. There is a laundry facility, however, it is not open 24 hours.
Quiet... Relatively...I am fortunate enough to live in the back corner of the complex which has been deemed the "quiet area". However, the cops were a few apartments away last night for yet another domestic disturbance or whatever.
CONS:
BUGS! Even though they come and spray, there are nasty roaches and other bugs. We are not dirty. We do not leave food out and we clean our apartment religiously. We have to plug up the drains overnight to try and keep the bugs from coming up. I have been cooking and seen bugs come out from behind the stove. I picked up a magazine to read the other day and a roach jumped out. It is gross. I guess it could be worse, I don't usually see many bugs during the day. Maybe a few times a week. But still...nasty!
SAFETY' Parking lot is very poorly lit. Cops seems to be there AT LEAST once a week. Another tenant tried to sell me marijuana. List goes on...
Fixtures. Cheap cabinets. Cheap sinks. Cheap carpet. Cheap linoleum. Cheap 1/2 stove. But what do you expect'
Unclean. Apartment was not as clean as it should have been when we moved in. Carpet stained, dirt on walls, dried on crap in microwave, etc...
Non-private patio/balcony. They are basically 1/4 enclosed.
Single cable hookup. If you want a tv with cable in your bedroom you have to pay Cox up the wazoo to have them install another line.
All in all, it isn't great, but it isn't terrible either. When you are paying that little per month for an apartment your can't have very high expectations. However, I can't wait to get a nicer place!
***EDIT***
Okay, last night I was laying on the coach and a disgusting cockroach crawled on my leg. That is the last straw. This place is a freaking dump!!!
