noise, noise, noise, and noise.

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2003
let's see. first there's noise. noise from the train tracks that are not 30 feet from the property of the complex. if you have a south-facing apartment, you will hear it roll by, horns blaring, at least once every couple of hours, more frequently at night. if you don't have a south-facing apartment, it's just a dull rumble.
then there's noise. kids, so many dman kids, all unsupervised and running around like houligans. from the black kids who were chasing a white girl around with a bat threating to "beat her white ass" to the many hispanic kids running around chattering unintelligibly, it's a menagerie of noise. if you're lucky enough to live underneath a pile of these urchins, you can expect what seems like a parade of cement-shoed animals dropping bowlingballs for hour on end. very poorly constructed apartments means no noise protection from your neighbors. terra vida is section 8 housing, folks. that means the more kids these deadbeats have, the better apartments the government pays for them to live in.
wait. did i mention noise' terra vida is "dog friendly" - that means they let anyone in any sized apartment have any dog they want. what's that' three massive pitbulls in a studio apartment' you got it. massive pitbulls take massive dumps, and the lovely people who own these dogs as status symbols (the same ones who live section 8 highlife with bling-bling around their necks at ALL times) are way too good to stoop over and pick up their animal's feces. watch for landmines as you walk around.
finally, you'll be dealing with noise. i'm not sure what they pay the landscapers, but they're there all the time, so these suckers must be making great money. lawnmowers, hedgetrimmers, weedeaters, and leafblowers, all gas-powered, all run inbetween 8 a.m. and whenever they run out of gas, and they like running them underneath your window. have a night job' you're gonna miss alot of work from lack of sleep. like to sleep in' not anymore you don't. sure, the grounds are kinda nice (besides the aforementioned landmines), but they really don't consider the needs of their residents over the aesthetics of the grounds.
i'm not saying that everything is awful, terrible, and all-around bad, but there's lots of room for improvement. the office staff were very good, but you're not living with them, so that only goes so far when you're rating an apartment. overall, i'd really look elsewhere before living here.
