I've rented from worse

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
As my year lease is nearly up, I began to look around town for another apartment to see what was out there. Having looked at over 20 apartments already I will have to say that Terra Vida has been one of the nicer places that I have seen. In response to many of the reviews that I have read I will say that no place is perfect as everyone has different expectations for their living surroundings. Are there dog's & people here that make noise and are incosiderate by not picking up after themselves' Sure on occasion. But you will get that no matter where you live. There is a train that goes by like clock work. But you'd have to be deaf & blind not to see it or hear it when you tour the property. Personally it dosen't bother me, but if you're a light sleeper, a south facing apartment isn't for you. I'm a day sleeper and the noise here dosen't bother me either. Even the grounds keepers and their mowers, blowers. The grounds are taken very good care of and that is important to me. I've has 2 occasions in the past year where I've needed maintenance on my apartment. The first was for a sticking door lock. They fixed the problem within 30 minutes of my reporting it. The second was when I had a problem with my garbage disposal. This was my fault for clogging it up. The managment fixed it within a few hours and I was not inconvenienced at all. Managment has been very helpful and responsive to issues. They are constantly having parties to welcome new people and make tenants aware of issues. The apartment itself is fine. It does have less expensive fixtures and such, but with the cheaper rent you will expect that. They work just fine though. Keep in mind that for me this was an economical choice, not a lavish one. I will admit that I did have a few roaches last year. This was due I suspect to dirty habits by my neighbors and not the actual apartment though. I bombed the apartment and haven't seen a single pest since. That was 6 months ago. Better roaches than the scorpions that I've heard some people have been plagues with at other apartments. Those things just scare the hell out of me! I have seen the police here on several occasions, but I don't see it as a haven for crime as some suggest. I've seen no drugs or shady people here. I haven't been bothered by anybody. It's been my experience that people mostly keep to themselves. Mesa is a big city and where you have big cities you have lots of people and all of their problems. So on occasion, there will be police at the apartment complex. It's when problems are unchecked and the police don't come that I would worry. I have no problems with parking or the garbage bins. There is ample covered and uncovered parking and rental spaces available if you choose. Garbage is picked up regularly. The noise between apartments isn't a major problem though on occasion I can hear my upstairs neighbor. I once received a noise complaint from my neighbor, but again my fualt for leaving on my stereo when I went to work. Again, noise is a common thing when you get lots of people together. There are certain things that you have to be willing to accept when you live in an apartment. Noise is one of them. Overall I wouldn't say that Terra Vida is a noisy community. Dogs, children and train included. In my experience Terra Vida has turned out to be a pleasant living situation with minimal problems that are common no matter where you rent.
