I am a current resident and I am in a legal battle with the complex. With the exception of ONE nice girl. The rest of them are horrible! I was treated disrespectfully, cheating out of nearly $1000 (this is total in the last 4 months). This is not including the $20/mnth they charged me every month for a w/d unit I did not own. They are constantly changing prices and pulling the $$ amounts out of nowhere, but we as tenants are forced to pay it and they know that because we have no where else to go. To top it off it is a section 42 low income housing so no one can afford to pay the outrageous fee's of any sort incurred due to their incompitency therefore forcing people to borrow money which in turn puts the tenant in furthur debt, and/or they get evicted. This is how the apt makes their money. Not to mention the unauthorized entry into the apt unit is at high risk. Someone from their staff came into my apt and stole $$ from me as well as other of my belongings. It's scary to know they can't be trusted. So I changed the locks myself. Going on, I was insulted by the only older male leasing agent who is working there up to this date. He referred to me in a sexist manner. Also, my car was broken into twice in the same week. The security is terrible! They even put numerous tow stickers on my car and finally they towed it after I made numerous calls informing them not to because there is nothing wrong with my car. This in turn forced me to cancel a business trip to pick it up from the towing company. I ABSOLUTELY do NOT recommend this apt complex to anyone regardless of how cheap they are! HINT: Nothing is ever free/cheap/as good as they sound. Everything comes with a price to pay! Please take this into consideration if you are thinking of renting here! Also note that I am one of a few other people in this situation, but am the only one who is taking a stand. This apt is owned by Dunlap & McGee, so if I were you, please be aware of other properties owned by them.

I just think you are somewhat bitter about your car being towed. If your registration was current and you communicate with the office you would not have had this problem. As for the guy in the office I agree sometimes when I spoke to him I thought he was fresh off the spaceship for the special kind because he never knew what was going on.

I know this review was posted a long time ago but as a former resident, I think the experience of the reviewer was either unique or they are yet another person unable to take responsibility for their actions. I lived there for 2 years, from 2006-2008. I was also charged $20 a month for a washer & dryer I did not own. But it was also communicated to me BEFORE leasing the apartment that there was a washer/dryer RENTAL charge of $20/mo ( tax). I also knew that there were apartments available in the complex without the washer and dryers (so you could use your own) and you would not pay the extra charge. As well, they were very explicit that they would not remove the washer & dryers from the units that had them - so if you liked the apartment location but it did (or did not) have a washer & dryer you could either accept it or find another apartment in the complex that suited your needs. They did raise the rent once when I was there but it was not by much (as an income restricted complex, they are governed by strict rules and as such, cannot willy-nilly raise rents). They also LOWERED the rent there at one point. When I decided to leave (tired of living on the 3rd floor, frankly), the washer/dryer rental fee was being increased and they also were implementing a pet rent for the first time since I had lived there (although I did not have a pet so that was irrelevant). However, they were not increasing the rent (so maybe that was partially the reason for the pet rent & washer/dryer rental increase? Can't say.) My biggest complaint about the place was the parking situation. There were no reserved parking spaces although there were at one time. Unfortunately, many of the residents that had lived there did not respect the reserved parking and parked in others spots. It caused a lot of hassle for the office and took too much of their time so they did away with it. I can understand that, but after a long day working and then having to do some grocery shopping, it was frustrating to have to park far from my apartment, especially knowing I had to walk alone and then lug the darn groceries up to the 3rd floor. But I always felt safe in my 3rd floor apartment and I probably would have slept with the windows open on nice nights but people that lived below me AND the people that lived below them smoked and it would waft right in through the windows. As a non-smoker, I cannot stand the smell of smoke so I wasn??????t going to deal with it in my home. The apartment was a decent size - bedrooms were about the same size but in the 3rd floor model, the non-master had a bigger closet and a huge (long) hall bath (with a window). The other floors don't have that due the the architectural features of the building. Living room was kind of small but it still fit a standard sofa and loveseat, coffee table and entertainment/tv stand. Anyway, I didn't have any issues with them "cheating" me out of money or any extra fees but then again, I paid my rent on time and made sure my car was in working condition, not leaking all kinds of crap, registered with the office (those that weren??????t or those that never moved were the ones that were towed) and I basically followed my lease to the T. Upon leaving, only ONE thing bothered me but I didn't bother to complain - when I left, I did not clean the oven. I TRIED but the oven cleaner got me sick so I figured losing that bit from my deposit wasn't a big deal. However, I DID clean the stove top and burners/burner pans yet I was charged for the cleaning of those, too. It's a small thing ?????? more annoying than anything else but my laziness kept me from complaining. :) I would live there again, if I wanted to live in apartments again! But if I did ?????? I would want to live on the first floor!

In response to charlesetta11, I wasn't bitter about my car being towed and it was completely bought and payed for. If your dislexia didn't prevent you from reading the rest of the complaint, let me inform you...it was because it was the wrong car. Believe me I notified the apartment complex of every detail concerning the washer and dryer and the $$$ they were trying to cheat me out of. Even the ONE nice girl there said was on my side. I'm an honest person and I would rather avoid conflict then stir the pot. But if I'm being screwed I'll take legal action... By the way...for all of you people who think my complaint is silly...I WON MY CASE! I don't owe them a dime! I will close of in saying, it is 2009...they might be a great place to live by now.

I have lived here since 2004 and have no complaints at all! I highly disagree with this complaint. They do not come into my apartment without me knowing. They couldn't anyway be because I have a large dog that will not let them. But I trust the maint. and office staff as they have not shown otherwise for me not to. The staff has always been very friendly, professional and right on top of things, specially if I need to get something fixed. The maint. guys have always worked with my schedule to come in and get things done for me so I don??t have to lose much time away from work. The parking is not bad, just depends where your apartment is and I chose one that had enough extra parking around rather than in a congested area. BTW they did not have assigned parking since I have moved in 04/04. I see some junky cars around and am happy to see them tow them away rather than letting them sit there making the place look ghetto. Regarding the washer and dryer they made it very clear to me as well that I will be charged for it monthy. The price has not changed for the washer and dryer fee. Also they did add a pet fee but it is only like $10 a month which is not bad at all compared to other apartments. If you are complaining about a $10 a month fee for a animal and saying its not affordable then maybe you shouldn??t have an animal as it costs more for the food/toys and other items. I have seen the rent raise and lower in the last few years but only by around $5 which is not much. These apartments are very large in fact it was one reason why I chose to move here because I have a full size couch set and it fits very nicely. Also the grounds are kept up a lot nicer than most as lower income housing apartments. If you are wanting higher security and new appliances and so fourth than maybe you should look into a higher priced apartment somewhere else. You get what you pay for and I think this place a fabulous for the money!
