NOT an apartment I would recommend
From: ov911ladyDate posted: 7/13/2007
Years at this apartment: 1994 - 2007
I lived at the Suntree Village apts (former name) from 1992 to 2007. From the middle of 2006 until I moved out in January of 2007, the apartments took on a new name, new look, new management, and a new attitude. The new name was the only thing I can say was a positive for the complex.
When my husband and I finally moved, after 11 years in the second of two apts we lived in at the complex, we had a certain amount of money as security deposit. Not only did we get NONE of the money back, but we were told we owed even more money (over $200.00) to the apts for "primer and painting labor". This matter was finally resolved just this month (we paid NO extra, and have some coming back now)
The staff are hard-headed, not people oriented at all, and SO not ready for a complex with over 400 units. All I can say is I am glad we got out while we could.
I will address the ratings I gave for the Parking, etc.
*Parking- one assigned spot, and the uncovered spots are supposed to be for the guests. People with 2 cars park in the guests' spots, leaving nothing open when you have friends or family over.
* Noise- very thin walls, it seems. Not the managements fault, but I am just speaking from experience.
* Grounds- People with dogs.. clean up after your pets! When the dog owners don't clean up after their pets, the dog doo will remain on the ground for days, sometimes over a week.
* Safety- For the most part, the apartment complex is relatively safe. One problem to note: When the lighting over the covered parking went out near my car, it took over a week and 2 phone calls for it to get fixed.
* Construction - nothing special.
* Maintenance - I really don't know if the air conditioner was just defective in our unit, or if it was never properly fixed, but almost every summer the unit would freeze up and drip water into our washer and dryer area. One time it happened twice in the same week.
*Staff- I have never dealt with more stubborn people. I can;t say anything nice, so I won't say anything at all.
*Overall- If I had filled out this survey 2 years ago, I would have better things to say. When things started to go downhill, that is when we started looking for another place to live. For now, I cannot give Overlook a rating over 1 star.
