My husband and I visited Riverwalk Apts one day as we were seeking a new place to live. After viewing the model suite, and gathering much information regarding the lease, etc. we decided this was our place of choice to move into. Two weeks later we gave them a deposit to lock us into the current special they had currently going but was told if we changed our minds within 2 wks of moving in that the deposit would be refunded. At this time we hadn't given them a definite move in date nor had we signed any papers or been promised a particular apartment. As a matter of fact, at the time they did not even have a vacant 2 bedroom apartment in which we requested we wanted. Approximately 3 weeks ago my husband and I learned that our Boss is transfering us down to Tucson in February to run a new business for him. At that time my husband contacted the rental agent and explained to her our situation. When asked about our deposit, she said it shouldn't be any problems returning it. Afterall, they weren't holding an apt for us. Several days later I called the rental agent and at this time I was told we can't get our deposit back. This did not go over well with me as I knew my rights and I proceeded to ask for the Corporates phone number, name, etc in which I was NOT given. I clearly told her that I would post a message here to show how dishonest they treated me. The next day I got a call back stating she was putting my deposit in the mail that day. Well, that was over 2 wks ago and it still hasn't arrived from Peoria to Chandler. After several more phone calls, and alot of the good ole runaround, I still have not gotten my deposit back and was told by the VP that it's not they're problem that it got lost in the mail and they will NOT do a thing about it. When my husband mentioned having his attorney to call them, she responded "so what." Needless to say, we have to pay the fee to track down the Money Order and was told this could take 6-8 wks. I guess we all get burned by dishonest people throughout our lives and all I want to say is that I'm thankful I learned how unprofessional this
situation was handled and ever so grateful that I'm being transferred to another city before I would have become a tenant.
Thank you for listening to me.
