I would definitely recommend living here but there are a few things to know. The complex itself is amazing. Very clean and maintained daily. The maintenance staff is top notch when it comes to fixing things and shows genuine concern for your comfort. The 24 hour fitness facility is very nice and the club house is large enough to accommodate a decent size party. The pool is huge and heated to 85 during the "colder" months. There is always the hot-tub if it's not warm enough for you. The fire pit is really nice and has a timer switch that you can turn on at any time to enjoy the instant flames. There are a few grills in the pool area that are also gas operated at the flick of a switch and a really nice cabana area with sink and refrigerator. The cement walls of the units are very thick and you hear virtually no noise from your neighbors at all. As the previous review stated, if your unit faces the courtyard it can be noisy if people are entertaining and being loud. Otherwise, it's not that bad. With ASU being right across the street, safety hasn't been a concern thus far since there is a huge police presence in that entire area. Plus there is a security guard that walks the complex at night. If you have a pet, (an additional $20/mo for pets) there is only one pet bag station near the pool area and they are cheap bags that aren't very easy to get open. What I do like is that if someone reports you not picking up after your pet, there is a fine. Although they have a trash chute for every floor, we were told not to use it since they have a trash company that picks up your trash Mon - Fri. Every unit is provided with a smaller size trash can that you put outside your door after 6p. If you don't remove it after 9a the next morning, you'll be fined $25. (Which I personally think is good to help deter trashy people from leaving it out there.) The downside is that no matter what size unit you have (1, 2 or 3 bedroom) you only get one parking pass to park in the garage. That's a little ridiculous to me but I suppose if you can afford to live here, then you can afford an additional pass for an extra $20/mo. There are two different elevators you can use to access your floor. They aren't as conveniently placed as I would like but a little exercise isn't always bad :-) The walk in closets are as big as a small den and have plenty of storage space!! Some units have a storage room outside accessible from the patio, but the complex does have additional storage units you can rent right there on site. Although the appliances aren't the top of the line, they look nice (all black.) I was a little disappointed at the choice of stackable washer and dryer. The laundry room can accommodate bigger than what they put in there. So they definitely skimped on that one. Overall, I would say if you want a nice place downtown that's semi-affordable and conveniently located, Alta is a great choice.
