I have been stuck here for three years. Every time we renewed our lease, they promised better. I feel pretty cheated.
The most obvious problems were evident right when we moved in. There is a major roach problem. There are ants, but luckily, they haven't invaded yet. Some of the residents are criminals, and there are drug deals and gun shots happening right outside. The apartments are old and need to be remodeled. They think that a coat of paint can fix anything. The fixtures fall apart, and the maintenance staff has to come back several times to fix something. Once my a/c was leaking because they didn't properly attach hoses. Then they blamed me for the stain on the carpet from the leaking unit! The laundry machines are small and expensive. With the "card" system, you can only put money on the card during office hours, and the machine doesn't take singes!
The prices are way too high. I had to pay a pet deposit and pay pet rent each month for my dog. They stopped paying for cable and internet because they couldn't pay for electricity or water. We had signs from the utility companies telling us that they were turning off the electricity or water. But they don't seem to have any intention of lowering our rent to cover the additional cost of our cable. Our cost of living has effectively gone up.
I have just broken my lease at a great personal expense, but it's totally worth it. In these times, there are way better apartments for just the same price. Save yourself a lot of headache- live somewhere else!

I could not agree more. Maintenance has gone to hell. No more internet/cable (as provided for in my lease). Water leaks, mold, and BUGS. Roaches and ants. I have had on/off an open ceiling due to leaks since June, 2009. They patch but never actually repair the leaks so it just keeps leaking. This last time my ceiling was open for more than a month and I hate to say this but there was a CRITTER WITH A TAIL in the ceiling. I only saw the tail. You figure out what it was. This place has potential but their obvious financial constraints are not allowing them to do the required maintenance and also forcing them to rent to just anybody....
don't get me started about the dogs here. nasty, ugly pig-stye tenants whose idea of walking their dogs to poop means outside their front door and in the common grounds WITHOUT scooping. Pigs. They are the same ones sitting outside nightly drinking beer till the wee hours of the morning.
I hate this place.
