You betcha! So, get your HMO's and PPO's ready boys and girls, 'cause it's time to play, "You've got lung disease!"
In all seriousness, there is NOTHING funny about cancer or lung disease. Nor is there anything amusing about living in an environment where second hand smoke is preventing you from enjoying your apartment and putting you at risk for an early death. Believe me, I should know!
PLAIN AND SIMPLE, non-smokers have NO RIGHTS HERE! So, if you take a gamble and sign a lease here, and you get stuck with a neighbor who is a chain-smoker, DON'T LOOK TO MANAGEMENT FOR HELP! They are much too busy collecting the rent and catering to a certain HUE of tenants.

On Wednesday, 12-27-06, at approximately 2 pm, I hand-delivered a letter to the leasing office. The letter documented my complaints regarding the excessive noise coming from the apt above me. I also presented a CD recording of the noise coming from said apartment.
While I was speaking one of the support staff members, the Office Manager rudely interrupted the conversation. She seemed to be extremely irritated by my presence. The office manager boldly stated that she didn't care what was on the CD and went on to say that as far as she was concerned, I could have made the whole thing up! The office manager further stated that she was NOT going to evict someone for running back and forth, dropping things on the floor, or playing loud music (funny at least one of these things is mentioned in my lease as a reason to evict someone). I sat and listened as she went on and on about how I needed to prove to her that the person/people in apartment above me were actually creating a disturbance. I asked her to listen to the CD. She said that she would, but also stated that my CD was worthless as far as she was concerned.
I asked the office manager where are this bureaucracy was when she sent me an unsigned 10-day notice claiming I was throwing trash from my balcony. I asked her what proof she used to send me that threatening letter. The office manager said that I called her and told her I was throwing things from my balcony. Utterly disgusted, I got up and left the office.
That same evening, at 5:28 pm, I received a call from a greyclow supervisor. The supervisor seemed to be trying to downplay the issue by saying things like, "Well, maybe the kid upstairs got a jump rope for Christmas." Or, my personal favorite, "Are you sure the noise is coming from that apartment?" I started to tell the supervisor that when someone one knocks on my door, I don't run to the window and say, "Who is it?"
However, the supervisor stated that they would give the woman in the apartment above me a courtesy call, "to see if she is all right". "To see if she is all right?" I thought to myself. No one is stomping and banging over her head all day and night. Of course SHE is all right!
The supervisor stated that if I had any other problems to call her back and they would take it to the next level. I should have asked, "what's the next level from nothing?"
Ladies and gentlemen, ask yourself one question, is this the kind of customer service you want to be subjected to?

Here's another idiot who complains about residents' smoking....who, once again, thinks that current tenants should be inconvienced into not smoking, because THEY don't like it. The smokers are not the ones causing a problem, and the management is 100% right, they should not confront smokers who, in all other respects, are great tenants! If you "take a gamble, and sign a lease here", be sure to ask about the smoking rules BEFORE, get it, BEFORE you move in, then if you don't like people smoking in their own apartments, you can just move on your merry way, to someplace else where you feel like you have some "rights", and leave the smokers in peace. Better yet, buy a house! What I do in MY home is none of your business!! Some of these "smoking complainers" apparently have nothing better to do with their time......
