Too Many Problems

This apartment complex is great at giving an ILLUSION.

I have rented here and will never come back. The expectations given to me by the staff was that this was a very upscale, clean, safe apartment complex that would have several facilities (computer room, fitness room, pool/lounge area) readily available to use and the staff that was handling my rental agreement seemed kind and very attentive.

However, after moving in, i find that it was a very different experience. My first issues came with the garbage disposal in the kitchen. I knew coming into the apt, the previous tenants had this complaint logged with the office staff, yet nothing was done about this problem after a week living there. I went to the leasing office and one office person looked at me like i was causing her a problem by coming in and talking about this. Then she pulled the already logged complaint and told me someone would come by, i went there again since the sink was starting to smell and she had someone finally come out. **By the way, the leasing office is only open from certain hours, i believe 9am-6pm, horrible for me because they were business hours and with my commute, by the time i reached the apartment, the main office for the aparment was closed, so i had to wait until the weekend to talk with a person at the apartment leasing office.** Another issue had to do with the Dogs. There are a lot of dogs in this apartment community, and you will notice by the amount of dog poop everywhere. Not to say that the owners of the pets are not responsible for their dogs, but after 1-2 weeks of seeing dog poop on the property landscape, for example outside on the landscape rocks & sidewalks surrounding the apartment, you would think that Desert Club apartment office would have a cleaning person to come scrape it off or pick it up. But that was not the case, therefore i had to lodge a complaint on the dog poop right outside of where i walk and enter in the apartment complex. And this is another issue, concerning dogs but as well as the construction of the apartments, i could hear everything! I could hear the dogs in the apartment next to me barking, the neighbors walking around their apartment, showering, doing laundry. This seemed ridiculous at first, but i was already in a lease so i bared with it, but then came the very loud music from the Lifetime Fitness Club right next to the apartment complex. The Gym's pool area is facing one side of the Desert Club apartments, therefore that entire side of the apartments' complex is prone to hear the Gym's blaring music. To give you a sense, i had my doors and windows shut, yet i could hear every track they played. Going back to when i first signed the lease, they told me i had my own covered parking space, i was happy about that because i know it can be difficult to find parking in a complex. Yet night after night, someone would be parked in my designated area. I left a note on the car, that car did not park in my spot again, however another car did!! And this was a covered, parking spot with a specific designated number, so the people in the apt complex know this spot belonged to another resident. I let the office know, and they suggested to me.....that I go and put a note on the car. I was shocked, i mean i already did this, but at the fact the apartment office saw this as something I should take care of, not an issue they should take care of, this made me upset because i'm paying for a good/hassle-free experience at this community, and they turn around and wash their hands of doing anything for a paying resident. I waited to speak with someone else at the office, and that individual told me that he could call a tow truck and have their car removed. That was a big NO in my book. The people in the apartment complex are a mix of young urban professionals and several older people, however you will see "packs" of people that look like older versions of sorority and fraternity groups that roam the area in the apartment complex, especially hanging in the pool area/barbeque pit. I mention this because it seems that the security at the apartment complex is somewhat lax, i'll just say it horrible, their "secured" gate is a joke. I once lost my gate clicker, and just was able to hop a fence into the "gated" apartment community, also the gates are open almost all day except when it reaches night, and even then, people are going in and out all the time, i have several times just walked in through those gates because they are very slow in closing. So not knowing who was parking in my spot, i feared retaliation if i had their vehicle towed from 'my reserved spot', so i just left another note on another car parked in my reserved spot. One last complaint, some of the office staff were very rude. I can't say they were all like that, but the ones that i would meet once entering the office, would be coy in answering my questions, and they tried to reason any apartment issue was 'my issue' several times, or that i did something wrong on my part. Ex.the garbage disposal, the office person actually talked to me in an accusatory tone of 'what did i put down there(referring to the garbage disposal)'' Also, when paying rent, i asked this same individual when/where would i drop my check, she said adamantly "you would have to bring or drop the check in the box office by today (the first of the month) or you will have to pay a penalty-late fee!" I went into the office later that day with the check, and another office person was there, i handed him the check and asked where i would drop it off next month if i find the office to be closed, and he smiled and said you can bring it in the 1st, 2nd of the month here, or drop it off in the office drop box near the mail boxes. That horrible office lady who just earlier was nastily talking to me & giving me the wrong information just sat there listening to him talk to me and pretented like she didn't say anything to me to the contrary. Really, when you move in to an apartment, its to have peace of mind and a nice place to go to get away from it all. But Desert Club apartments has way Too Many Problems.
